PGWP holders may get extensions on their work permits.
A total of 919 Express Entry candidates have been invited through the PNP draw by the end of this financial year.
The IRCC has only invited PNP candidates who have a minimum score of 785 CRS points. The minimum score has been set higher because of the 600 additional points given to the nominated candidates. Deducting the additional points, the base score reaches back to 185 points.
Selected candidates have a period of 2 months within which they can apply for Canadian PR.
In its former round of invitations, a total of 924 PNP candidates were invited by the IRCC.

Sean Fraser answered many proposed questions regarding the immigration system of Canada in a Standing Committee meeting.
When asked about restarting CEC draws, Fraser has no confirmed dates of reinforcement of CEC draws. It has been put on a halt since last year because of which many eligible candidates under the CEC category are not able to apply for it.
With a non-availability of Express Entry draw, the immigrants holding PGWP lose their eligibility of getting a Bridging Open Work Permit. Rather the option of LMIA supported work permit is being left for them, which may even put them in a condition to quit their jobs or even the country.
Till now, the IRCC hasn’t come up with any final decisions regarding the expiration of the status of CEC and FSWP candidates. Although, the immigration minister had hinted at an extension of PGWP.
He mentioned extending PGWPs so that more people can stay in the country.
The final dates are still to be decided. The main goal of the Canadian Government is to retain as many people as are working or staying in the country.
Candidates applying under the FSWP category are not being invited from last year. Since there has been no information on when the applications for FSWP will be released.
While fulfilling the targets of 2021 by accommodating candidates, the IRCC was left with an increase in backlogs in the FSWP category. The backlog inventory could be cleared within 3 years. So as to reach the target of processing time of 6 months, the IRCC is still continuing with putting a halt on FSWP candidates.
Express Entry System
The application management through an online system is Express Entry. All the applications under the CEC, FSWP, and FSTP are undertaken by the Express Entry.
Candidates getting an ITA that is Invitation to Apply is an invitation that is given to the top performers. These top performers are defined by a CRS system which has been introduced by Express Entry.
By the time, an application is submitted. It goes under evaluation through any of the officials of IRCC. Approved candidates are asked to fill in their fingerprints, photographs, and various other documents.
Once the above procedure is done, the IRCC provides a Confirmation of Permanent Residence to the accepted candidates. Then, they may further complete their landing process which is also assisted by the officials of Canada at the time of arrival.
Invitation
An imaginary example is taken to explain which candidates are invited.
Ansh is 33 years old with a post-graduation degree. He’s been working as a mechanical engineer since 2017. He took the IELTS exam and scored 8 in each of the 4 categories. Although he has never experienced working or studying in Canada but still has a desire to move to Canada. After entering the Express Entry pool under the FSWP category, his current score is 465. The moment he receives a provincial nomination from the province of British Columbia the score goes up to 1062 which makes him perfectly eligible for getting an ITA.
