Most recent PNP draws were held in four major Canadian provinces, including Saskatchewan, Quebec, Ontario, and British Columbia. The provinces sent invitations to eligible candidates this week for provincial immigration.
Numerous provinces and territories in Canada function through their separate set of Provincial Nominee Programs. Interested candidates have the opportunity to receive invitations under these provincial immigration programs. The candidates can further apply for a provincial nomination.
The Quebec province has separate criteria and works differently than the rest of the Canadian immigration programs.
Provincial nomination is distinct from permanent residence, but it does help significantly in contributing toward acquiring permanent residency.
The Provincial Nominee Program emerged in 1998 as an effort to promote the economic development of the country. It became a renowned pathway among people and also contributed to population growth in regions that didn’t have a vast immigrant population.
PNP draws- September 24 to 29
Quebec
The Quebec province sent invitations to 1,009 skilled workers to apply for permanent residency. The draw focused on candidates possessing valid work experience in in-demand occupations. They must also have a valid employment offer from outside the metropolitan community of Montreal.
Candidates must have their profiles created under the Arrima Expression of Interest, and the scores must be a minimum of 563 points. Interestingly, Quebec held the draw for the eleventh time in 2022. However, as far as September is concerned, it is the second draw. Quebec usually conducts once a month only. The province takes at least two weeks to declare the results after one draw.
MIFI issued invitations to immigration candidates who submitted their applications under the Quebec Regular Skilled Worker Program. The province provides not more than sixty days to candidates applying for permanent selection and also for the fee payment. The primary objective of Quebec is to process applications within six months after receiving all essential documents and information.
Ontario
The Ontario Provincial Nominee Program conducted two draws over the previous week. The first draw occurred on September 23 for the French Speaking Skilled Workers Stream. As many as 363 candidates received provincial invitations with a minimum score of 326.
OINP aligns well with the Express Entry system and requires French-speaking candidates to possess a strong command of the English language.
The Human Capital Priorities Stream became a part of the second draw held on September 28. Ontario issued invitations to 1,179 candidates in a targeted draw of tech occupations. The candidates had employment experience in occupations related to the tech industry.
British Columbia
Over 258 candidates received an invitation to apply for a provincial nomination on September 28 in British Columbia.
Out of these, the maximum number of candidates was around 215 who received invites for tech occupations during targeted draws.
The candidates received these invitations under two categories, mainly: the Skilled Worker and International Graduate. The draw even consisted of the Express Entry candidates.
The minimum SIRS score was 100 for the target tech drawing. SIRS acts similarly in its function to the Comprehensive Ranking System.
However, SIRS is only utilized by British Columbia PNP.
The province conducted invitation rounds for those working in the following occupations:
- Twenty-eight Childhood Educators and Assistants with a minimum of 60 points.
- Fifteen Healthcare Workers- They belonged to categories such as the International Graduate, Skilled Worker, Semi-Skilled (comprising EEBC option), and Entry Level, having at least a score of 60.
- Healthcare Assistants- These belonged to the Entry level and Semi-skilled category with a minimum score of 60.
- Other occupations on priority- These had an essential score of 60 points.
It is important to note that BC will be pausing the draws between October 12 and November 16 because of the replacement of NOC 2016 with the new one, that is, NOC 2021. The new NOC 2021 system will assess and evaluate a candidate’s eligibility and skill level under the economic immigration programs.
Saskatchewan
Saskatchewan issued invitations to 639 candidates under the Express Entry stream, whereas 507 candidates received invites under the Occupations-In-Demand stream. The two streams fall under the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program. The total number of candidates receiving invites was around 1,146.
These draws took place consistently through the summer season, and the recent one invited 1000 candidates. After September 7, the first draw was held. The previous week also didn’t witness any draw, especially any SINP draw, since July 6.
