Newfoundland And Labrador Invites Candidates In The Latest Draw

Newfoundland and Labrador held its 10th provincial immigration draw of 2026 on August 10, inviting 208 candidates to apply through its immigration programs.

The invitations were issued through the Newfoundland Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP) and the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP).

The latest draw gave most of the invitations to NLPNP candidates, while a smaller number went to applicants under the AIP.

Draw Details

The NLPNP received about 89.4% of the invitations issued in the latest draw.

Program Invitations Issued
NLPNP 186
AIP 22

The province’s Office of Immigration and Multiculturalism (OIM) did not provide details about which NLPNP streams received invitations.

Newfoundland and Labrador uses an Expression of Interest (EOI) system to select candidates based on its immigration and labour market needs.

Candidates may receive priority if they work in areas such as healthcare, sales and service, rural communities, or occupations with lower representation.

The latest draw also had the lowest number of AIP invitations since June 10.

The table below shows how the latest draw compares with other provincial selections held in 2026:

NLPNP candidates received 84.2% of these invitations.

How Do The NLPNP And AIP Selection Work?

Most applicants need a valid job offer to qualify for either the NLPNP or AIP. An exception applies to people applying through the entrepreneur streams of the NLPNP.

Foreign nationals who want to be considered for these programs must first submit an EOI through the province’s Immigration Accelerator Portal.

The EOI profile includes information about education, work history, language skills, and plans to settle in Newfoundland and Labrador.

Once submitted, the profile enters the EOI pool and can be considered in future provincial draws.

The Office of Immigration and Multiculturalism reviews the profiles and selects candidates based on the province’s current immigration and labour market priorities.

Selected candidates receive an invitation to submit an application for provincial nomination through the NLPNP or endorsement through the AIP.

Newfoundland and Labrador’s selection priorities can change based on the province’s labour market needs. Profiles that match these priorities may receive greater consideration.

After receiving an invitation, candidates have 60 days to respond.

For NLPNP applications, the employer submits the application. Under the AIP, the candidate is responsible for submitting the application.

After receiving a provincial nomination or AIP endorsement, candidates can apply to the federal government for permanent residence.

The federal immigration department then reviews the application. If approved, the applicant receives a Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR).

The latest federal figures show the following estimated wait periods:

Application Type Processing Time (as of August 10)
Base PNP 13 months
Enhanced PNP 7 months
AIP 26 months

EOI profiles remain active in Newfoundland and Labrador’s pool for 12 months.

Profiles that do not receive an invitation during that period expire. Candidates who still want to be considered must submit a new profile. For AIP applicants, the employer must submit a new profile to keep the candidate under consideration.

The latest draw shows continued selection through both the NLPNP and AIP, with most invitations going to candidates under the Provincial Nominee Program.
