Nova Scotia conducted a draw under Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) to send invites to 278 nurses to request a provincial nomination.
The province has the Nova Scotia Nominee Program (NSNP) that send invites to applicant from the Express Entry pool. They periodically invite applicants from the pool for specific professions where there is high demand. The recent draw was focused on nurses who could have the eligibility for the Labour Market Priorities Stream.
Applicants who have registered nurses or psychiatric nurses as their primary profession were eligible for the invite. Furthermore, their jobs should be aligned with the National Occupational Classification (NOC) 3012.
They also have to present a letter of reference demonstrating at least three years of experience in the relevant field.
Individuals who got the invite should also possess a Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) threshold score. The threshold has been kept at 9 or more. This is required in English or French language and in all the available abilities. Furthermore, a bachelor’s degree is required to show the education level or should have completed a three-year program in post-secondary education.
The due date to apply is March 10th at midnight. They will get a provincial nomination from Nova Scotia if the applications are approved. In the federal streams, individuals with the nomination have an option to apply for permanent resident status (under PNP) if they are selected in a federal draw.
Express Entry
The basic requirement for Labour Market Priorities Stream is to have a profile on the federal immigration application management system, Express Entry.
It is a platform launched by the immigration department to manage three federal immigration streams. They are:
- Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP),
- Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP), and
- Canadian Experience Class (CEC).
Applicants get the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) scores based on the demographic details that they provide.
After choosing the applicants from the pool, Nova Scotia sends them invites. They are also termed Letters of Interest. Within two months after getting the invite, everyone has to complete their applications.
Just like any other province, applicants get extra 600 points in their CRS if they are able to secure a nomination from Nova Scotia. This ensures that the individual will get an Invitation to Apply (ITA) in the future draws conducted by the immigration department.
