Ontario & British Columbia Invite Applicants In Latest PNP Draws

Ontario & British Columbia invite applicants to the latest PNP draws. All Canadian provinces except Quebec & Nunavut have their own PNP, thus allowing provincial governments to select immigration applicants who will integrate into the local economy & fill gaps in the labor force.

When the province nominates an applicant, the applicant has a much stronger application when they apply to IRCC for permanent resident status.

Note that all PNPs are operated in the same way. For instance, Alberta recently developed new guidelines for the Alberta Opportunity Stream, the Rural Renewal Stream, & the Accelerated Tech Pathway. In addition, the province sets a deadline to accept a specific number of applications by a particular date every month to allow more efficient processing.

The latest results show that, as of July 9, application targets have been met for the Rural Renewal Stream and the Tourism Hospitality Stream.

As of July 11, the province also hit its application target for the Alberta Opportunity Stream.

Provincial Immigration Result: July 6 – 12

Ontario & British Columbia invite applicants to the latest PNP draws. Here are the results for the same.

1. Ontario

On July 9, the province issued over 1,556 invitations to applicants in the Masters Graduate stream of the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program. Applicants required a minimum score of 54. It was a general draw, implying that all provinces were considered.

On the same day, the province also invited 110 applicants from the PhD Graduate Stream with a minimum score of 50. It was a general draw as well.

Another OINP draw took place on July 11, inviting over 1,277 applicants to the Express Entry: Skilled Trades Stream. Moreover, all applicants had a minimum score in the range of 408 – 435. The draw targeted applicants in specific skilled trades professions.

When a province nominates an Express Entry applicant, they obtain an additional 600 points in the federal Comprehensive Ranking System, implying that they are virtually guaranteed to obtain an invitation to apply from IRCC in an upcoming Express Entry draw.

2. British Columbia

On July 9, British Columbia invited more than 66 applicants in five draws for applicants in the Skilled Worker, International Graduate & Entry-Level, & Semi-Skilled streams of the BC PNP.

The largest draw was general for applicants in all streams. All applicants required a minimum score of 134 except Entry-Level and semi-skilled applicants. Well, they required a score of 110 to be considered. The remaining four draws targeted applicants in specific professions and considered only International Graduate and semi-skilled applicants.

  • Childcare Professions: 10 applicants with a minimum score of 94.
  • Healthcare Professions: 12 applicants with a minimum score of 104.
  • Construction Professions: 9 applicants with a minimum score of 95.

The province also invited less than five applicants in veterinary care professions with a minimum score of 80.
