Ontario sends over 1100 invitations in five OINP draws, i.e., on December 10, Ontario issued a total of 1,133 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) for provincial nomination through five separate draws. These were the first draws since October 9, ending a pause of two months.
Invitations were sent to candidates in three Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) streams:
- Employer Job Offer: Foreign Worker Stream
- Employer Job Offer: International Student Stream
- Employer Job Offer: In-Demand Skills Stream
These draws focused on early childhood educators, healthcare workers, and candidates who may qualify under the Regional Economic Development through Immigration (REDI) pilot. This pilot supports Ontario’s smaller communities by helping employers hire workers who want to live and stay in those regions. The draws used all three job-offer streams listed above.
All five draws invited people who are currently living in Canada and who already have a profile in Ontario’s Expression of Interest (EOI) system.
For the REDI pilot, Ontario targeted candidates interested in working and settling in specific smaller communities. The invited areas for this round included Lanark, Leeds, and Grenville Census Divisions.

Ontario Plans A Major Change To Its Nominee Program
As Ontario sends over 1100 invitations in five OINP draws, it is important to note that the province has proposed big changes to how it selects candidates for provincial nomination. These changes would:
Phase 1:
- Combine the three Employer Job Offer streams into a single stream.
Phase 2:
- Remove all current OINP streams and introduce three new ones:
- A Priority Healthcare stream
- An Entrepreneur stream
- An Exceptional Talent stream
These changes are still being discussed. No final decision or start date has been announced.
