The PEI immigration draw was conducted on June 16 in which 136 invitations were sent to candidates under the PEI PNP (PEI Provincial Nominee Program). While the Labour and Express Entry streams had 127 invitations sent, PEIs business impact and work permit streams had 9 invitations sent with a minimum of 65. The last draw, which took place on May 20, had 153 invitations sent; the current draw has fewer invitations.
PEI draws take place monthly, and the provincial nomination is planned for one year. 1,174 invitations have been issued under the PEI PNP since July 2021, out of which 826 are being issued in 2022.
The Provincial Nominee Program
Almost all provinces and territories in Canada function with their own set of PNPs, Quebec, and Nunavut are exceptions to this category. Permanent residence and provincial nomination differ, but provincial nomination holds significance because it increases your chance of becoming a permanent resident from IRCC. There are over 80 PNP Canadian streams with the potential to help candidates gain permanent residency.
The candidate must either apply directly to the province or through the Express Entry profile.
Those candidates having the Express Entry profile have a chance of receiving a provincial nomination and get an added 600 points to the CRS score (Comprehensive Ranking System).
These points provide a virtual guarantee to the candidate to receive an invitation to apply (ITA) from the IRCC.
PIE PNP- Express Entry
To be eligible to apply for a Provincial Nomination through the PIE, candidates should first qualify under any one of the streams- the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), Canadian Experience Class, and the Federal Skilled Trades Program.
The EOI profile is proof for the provincial government that you’d wish to be nominated. Based on the pro Candidates with an Express Entry profile will be required to prove their interest through an Expression of Interest profile provincial score grid, the candidate also receives scores and if they get a higher score, they’ll be invited to apply in the monthly draw.
Labour Impact Category
The Labour Impact category operates independently of the Express Entry and as a base stream nomination. It is classified into three streams- Skilled Worker Stream, Critical Worker Stream, and International Graduate Stream. Irrespective of which pathway a candidate chooses, he should have a valid job offer from PEI and also gain support from their employer.
Skilled Worker Stream
The candidates under this stream should possess a valid job offer in PEI from their employer. You should be skilled in any NOC skill type O, A, or B along with a diploma or degree at the postsecondary level.
Critical Worker Stream
The Critical Worker Stream applies to candidates with work experience under NOC codes C and D. The candidates must hold a minimum of two years of experience.
International Graduate Stream
The International Graduate Streams must have recently graduated from the Designated Learning Institutions of Prince Edward Island. The eligible applicants will be working with a skilled professional in their respective study fields.
Business Impact Category
Eligible candidates who aim to operate their business in PEI, and establish or own a business will be applying through this category.
The work permit stream is appropriate for the Business Impact Category. To become eligible for this pathway, candidates should already have started working in Canada to gain more knowledge about business while on a work permit.
You should show your intention of living in Prince Edward Island and should manage the business actively. When an entrepreneur satisfies the eligibility criteria of PEI during the work permit, the candidate might be nominated to apply for PR at IRCC.
