PNP draw invitations- Ontario and BC invite candidates

PNP draw invitations through British Columbia, and Ontario were issued to candidates in the weekly Provincial Nominee Programs.

Provincial Nomination and Permanent Residence significantly differ from one another. A Provincial Nomination is partially responsible for helping interested candidates attain permanent residence in Canada from IRCC.

Excluding Quebec and Nunavut, the Canadian provinces and territories generally work through their PNPs. As a result, the Provincial Nomination Programs allow candidates to receive an invitation to further apply for Canadian permanent residency.

Quebec manages and governs its immigration programs, which are distinct from Canadian immigration programs.

PNP gradually started receiving more than 80,000 permanent residents in Canada annually after its launch of PNP in 1988. After a small initial figure of 400 immigrants after its launch, the number under the PNP increased drastically because the federal and provincial governments considered it a productive tool for improving the immigrant population besides the already populated regions. As a result, the country’s economic development would enhance.

Ontario

The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program candidates received 1,340 invitations via the Express Entry Skilled Traded Stream. They had to fulfill the minimum score of 266. To further gain eligibility for this stream, candidates must already reside in Ontario, Canada, and satisfy the work experience requirement of continuous one year based on full-time work. This work experience can also equal part-time experience on paid terms in Ontario. The experience must align with a skilled trade under NOC’s Minor Group 633 and Major groups including 72, 73, and 82. Make sure to gain work experience within the past two years.

Candidates with eligibility will need an authentic license and certificate for their specific skilled trade from an authority in the province. They will also have to meet the Canadian Language Benchmark in French or English with five points.

British Columbia

Over 229 candidates received invites to apply for British Columbia’s PNP on October 4. A majority of candidates, that is 184, out of the total received invitations in a general draw involving tech occupations.

These invites comprised candidates in the skilled worker and international graduate categories, along with Express Entry candidates.

The general draw consisted of minimum SIRS scores between 82 and 120. SIRS acts similar to Express Entry’s Comprehensive Ranking System. However, the SIRS only applies to British Columbia’s PNP draw.

On the whole, BC conducts PNP draw invitations for those under the following occupations:

  • Early Childhood Educators and Assistants- 32, comprising a score of 60 points.
  • Thirteen Healthcare workers- categories of Skilled Worker, International Graduate, Entry-Level, and Semi-Skilled. The minimum score must be 60.
  • Healthcare Assistants- Categories including Entry-Level and Semi-Skilled with a minimum score of 60 points.
  • Priority-based occupations have a minimum score of 60.

BC PNP draw invitations- chief factors

British Columbia acknowledges various factors under BC PNP based on the province’s labor force requirements.

The province considers the following factors:

  • Education field and level based on where the candidate completed his education.
  • Occupation and language abilities.
  • Work experience skill level and duration.
  • The job offer includes the skill level and wage.
  • Candidate’s intention to reside in the specific area and to work or settle there.
  • Factors associated with specific labor market requirements in British Columbia.
  • Pilot projects and initiatives by the government.

This draw in British Columbia was the last one because the BC PNP draws are pausing between October 12 to November 16 to introduce the NOC system 2021, replacing the NOC 2016. The new NOC system 2021 will evaluate candidates based on their skills as per the economic immigration programs.
