PNP draws nomination results declared by three Canadian provinces

PNP draws nomination results from three Canadian provinces, including British Columbia, Ontario, and New Brunswick recently became public.

Provincial governments nominate individuals with the best chance of settling economically and integrating into the province’s employment force.

Except for Quebec and Nunavut, most provinces and territories conduct PNP draws that prioritize applicants with particular professions, such as technology, healthcare, and skilled crafts. This makes it possible for governments to focus on hiring applicants who can meet their own labor needs. Similarly, the federal government will shortly start hosting Express Entry draws in upcoming category-based selection draws for particular occupations and French language proficiency through IRCC.
The Comprehensive Ranking System will automatically award the PNP candidate with an additional 600 points if they exist in the Express Entry pool and receive a provincial nomination.

Candidates for economic immigration who are not part of Express Entry may still submit an application for provincial nomination. This could improve their entire application for permanent residence.
Being nominated is not the same as being granted permanent resident status. Even if they have received a provincial nomination, candidates must still apply to the IRCC independently. This is due to the fact that both the local and federal governments share responsibility for immigration.

PNP draws nomination results between June 17 and June 22

The first draw was for candidates with job offers in the Employer Job Offer: Foreign Worker stream. The province invited 426 candidates with scores of 36 and above who had experience in a skilled trades occupation.

The second draw was for 318 foreign workers with a job offer in a healthcare occupation. Candidates in this draw required a minimum score of 33.

The final draw invited 256 candidates in a general draw through the Employer Job Offer: In-Demand Skills stream. Candidates needed a minimum score of 26.

British Columbia

For applicants to the Skilled Worker and International Graduate streams of the BC PNP (including Express Entry applicants), British Columbia staged four targeted draws on June 20. Over 144 candidates were invited in all.

A total of 107 individuals with IT jobs were the focus of the biggest draw. The SIRS had a minimum cut-off score of 90. Similar to an Express Entry CRS score, SIRS is only used for BC PNP applicants.

The final three draws focused on less than five candidates in other priority occupations, 19 candidates in healthcare occupations, and 18 early childhood educators and helpers. Each draw requires candidates to have a minimum score of 60.

New Brunswick

The monthly Express Entry results for New Brunswick are now public. The province claims that it welcomed 93 Express Entry applicants in total throughout the course of May from three streams, including:

  • NB Employment Connection – Twenty-One
  • Ten – NB Student Connection
  • Sixty-One – Occupations In-Demand Connection

This year, New Brunswick has submitted 509 applicants for provincial Express Entry. With 186 candidates invited, March of 2023 was the busiest month yet. This may have been because March was also the most active month for federal Express Entry draws, during which 21,667 applicants from throughout Canada obtained invitations.
