Provincial Nominee Program is an immigration pathway coherently managed by all the three branches of the Canadian government that are- territorial, provincial, and federal.
It gives all the Canadian provinces and territories the liberty to execute their own draws based on their labor market requirements and economic objectives.
The PNP was brought into existence back in 1998 with the objective to equally distribute the benefits of immigrants overall small and big provinces of the country.
Considering the current scenario, PNP shares a majority of share in the Canadian immigration system.
The majority of Canadian provinces like Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, Labrador, Manitoba, Brunswick, etc. rely on Provincial Nominee Program for accommodating potential immigrants from all over the world.
This program is likely to hold a great prominence in the near future as more than ninety thousand immigrants will be accommodated in the country through PNP.
Express Entry linked PNP
Most of the Canadian provinces and territories take active participation in the PNP aligned with the Express Entry system. It is a management system for majorly three categories that are CEC, FSWP, and FSTP.
Under Express Entry linked PNP, also recognized as Enhanced PNP, offers Express Entry applicants to apply to get the provincial nomination.
Applicants who succeed in getting the provincial nomination are rewarded with a bonus of 600 CRS added to their final score.
More than eleven hundred applicants succeeded in receiving an ITA in two different PNP Express Entry draws.
During this period, the categories of CEC and FSWP were put on hold to divert the efforts toward clearing the Express Entry backlog which was massively growing because of the pandemic.
Although the Canadian Immigration Minister has made a commitment to restart the application process for the FSWP and CEC categories from the beginning of July.
Additionally, he had also claimed to process the upcoming Express Entry application according to the ideal processing time which is 6 months.
The province of Alberta
The province of Alberta released the results of one of its draws which is the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program and will welcome 100 candidates to its place.
The draw took place on the 19th of May via the Alberta Express Entry system under which 100 applicants qualified having a minimum score of 382 CRS points.
The province of British Columbia
The province targets candidates through several categories like Skills Immigration, Express Entry British Columbia, and The Tech and Entrepreneur Regional Pilot Stream to grant provincial nominations to the superior scorers.
The province also conducts occupation-oriented immigration draws which are their priority.
The province invited 636 applicants who qualified for the eligibility criteria.
The province of Manitoba
The province of Manitoba operates its immigration system and grants invitations through 3 categories- Skilled Workers Overseas, International Education Stream, and Skilled Workers in Manitoba.
A total of 315 LAAs were granted to applicants in a general draw that was conducted in the last month.
With the motive to assist the impacted lives of Ukrainians, the province of Manitoba has started to conduct MPNP draws specifically for such people.
The last draw took place on the 20th of May, under which a total of 13 invitations were granted to qualify Ukrainians.
The province of New Brunswick
The province of Brunswick made an announcement to temporarily discontinue the services of the New Brunswick Express Entry stream.
This decision has been taken by the government of New Brunswick in order to control the increasing demand among international scholars and skilled workers.
And explained that if the category was allowed to work according to its original format, there could occur a massive demand for it resulting in an increased risk for certain immigration categories like Internationally Educated Nurses.
This discontinuation is only applied to Express Entry applications that have been submitted after the 20th of May. Although there has been no specification of when the applications for this category will be opened.
Certain other programs like New Brunswick Skilled Worker Stream, the Federal Foreign Worker Program, and the Atlantic Immigration Program are still accessible to employers willing to recruit foreign skilled workers.
The province of PEI
The province conducts its PNP draw at a regular interval of 30 days, named the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program.
The last PEI PNP was conducted on the 20th of May under which a total of 137 qualifying candidates belonging to the category of Express Entry, Labour Impact, and Business Impact were granted the invitation.
The province of Quebec
The province operates through a different immigration system as compared to the immigration system of other Canadian provinces.
A total of 30 qualifying candidates have been granted the invitation from the Ministère de I’Immigration, de la Francisation et de I’Intégration for Canadian permanent residency.
The eligibility criteria for this category demand for candidates to apply for Arima Expression of interest with a valid employment offer from anywhere external to the Montreal Metropolitan area.
The province of Saskatchewan
The province of Saskatchewan issued a total of 54 invitations to qualifying candidates who applied through the category of Entrepreneur Expression of Interest on the 5th of May
And a total of 197 qualifying applicants have been granted the provincial nomination applied through the category of Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program on the 5tg of May.
Out of 197 applicants, 106 of them were Express Entry profiles and the remaining 91 belonged to the category of Occupation In Demand.
The province is conducting special draws for impacted lives of Ukraine under which citizens who are currently residing in Ukraine will be invited.
