PNP streams in the latest draw – three provinces invite candidates

PNP streams in the latest draw enabled three Canadian provinces to nominate candidates. These include British Columbia, Manitoba, and New Brunswick.

IRCC is far more likely to invite to apply for permanent residency to an applicant with a provincial nomination.  This is because, in Canada, immigration is a mutual responsibility between the federal and provincial governments. Furthermore, receiving a nomination by a province indicates that you would be suitable for the province’s labor market.

PNPs target applicants for economic immigration who have the best chance of integrating into the local economy. This might result from their occupation, a close familial connection, or a clearly expressed strong desire to live in the province.
The Nova Scotia Nominee Program also updated its selection criteria for the Experience Stream in light of the likelihood of residents staying in the province.

As of June 9, the province’s selection criteria will only consider foreign graduates who have finished their studies in Nova Scotia. Graduates from other jurisdictions are still qualified to apply for a provincial nomination in Nova Scotia through alternative channels.

PNP streams in the latest draw – results between July 8 to 14

British Columbia

On July 11, the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) conducted its customary weekly draw.
In four draws this week, the province invited more than 202 individuals to compete for positions in three streams.
In the most significant draw, which included tech occupations, 152 individuals were selected from the skilled worker, international graduate, entry-level, and semi-skilled streams.
SIRS scores of 106 were necessary for skilled workers, 109 for international graduates, and 87 for entry-level and semi-skilled candidates.

The final three draws were occupation-specific and only aimed at international graduates and skilled workers. Thirty-five early childhood educators and assistants received invitations to the first one. Meanwhile, fifteen healthcare professionals attended the second, and less than five people from other priority occupations received invitations to the third. Each draw required a minimum score of 60 points.

Manitoba

On July 13, Manitoba sent 540 letters of recommendation to candidates. There were four draws among them, distributed over three streams.
Two of these draws involved the province inviting talented workers. 205 individuals with scores of 604 participated in the first draw that was occupation-specific. According to the National Occupational Classification (NOC) 2021, these candidates have jobs in particular broad categories and significant groups.

  • Healthcare Occupations – Three
  • Supply Chain Logistics Occupations, Administrative and Financial Support – Fourteen
  • Ten occupations of Specialized middle management – Administrative, business, financial, and communication services (excluding broadcasting)
  • Transport Drivers, Helpers and Laborers, and Operators and Laborers – 75

In a non-occupational draw, 237 Skilled Workers also obtained invitations. A 661 score was the minimum requirement.

The remaining draws welcomed 41 skilled professionals abroad and 57 candidates from the international education stream. A minimum score of 774 was required for Skilled Workers Overseas.

New Brunswick nominated candidates through the PNP streams in the latest draw

The outcomes of the June NB Express Entry draws have been made public by New Brunswick. Three streams of candidates received a total of 121 invitations:

  • NB Employment Connection Stream – Twenty-eight invitations were issued to candidates.
  • NB Student Connection Stream – Sixty-four invitations were sent to candidates.
  • NB Occupations In-Demand Connection Stream

New Brunswick has invited 630 applicants to the NB Express Entry program so far in 2023.
