Prince Edward Island Holds The Second-Largest Immigration Draw

Prince Edward Island holds the second-largest immigration draw, i.e., Prince Edward Island held its third immigration draw of 2026 on March 20. Invitations were issued through the Labour Impact and Express Entry pathways of the provincial program.

According to the PEI Office of Immigration, the province is continuing to focus on candidates working in sectors that have a strong impact on its economy.

With this latest draw, the total number of invitations issued by the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP) has reached 236 in 2026 so far. All of these invitations have been sent through the Labour Impact and Express Entry streams.

This draw is also the third round of selections conducted by the province this year.

Latest Draw Results

In the most recent draw, the PEI PNP issued 101 invitations under its Labour Impact and Express Entry categories.

Similar to earlier draws in 2026, the province gave priority to candidates working in key sectors that support its economy. These sectors include healthcare, skilled trades, manufacturing, and other fields facing labour shortages.

International graduates from the University of Prince Edward Island, Holland College, and Collège de l’Île were also given priority in this round.

The March 20 draw was held one day later than expected. It was originally planned for March 19, unlike the draws held in January and February which followed the schedule.

The province also noted that candidates working in sales and service jobs may not receive invitations at this time.

How PEI Chooses Candidates?

Foreign nationals who want to apply for permanent residence through the PEI PNP must first create an account on the province’s official website. After that, they need to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI).

The province then ranks candidates based on how well they match its labour market and economic needs.

Several factors are considered under the EOI system, including:

  • Language ability in English or French
  • Education level, field of study, and where the education was completed
  • Skill level and work experience
  • Strategic priorities based on current labour market needs
  • Other factors that affect job opportunities, such as having a job offer in PEI or previous Canadian work experience

If the province follows its earlier schedule for 2026, the next draws are expected to take place on April 16 and May 21, 2026. However, these dates are only for reference and may change.
