Prince Edward Island Issues More ITAs For Provincial Nomination

Prince Edward Island issues more ITAs for provincial nomination, i.e., on 17 July, the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP) issued new invitations to foreign nationals, encouraging them to apply for a provincial nomination for permanent residence in Canada.

This recent draw continues PEI’s goal to welcome newcomers who can fill important labour market gaps and contribute to the province’s economy. Selected candidates work in priority sectors and hold in-demand occupations that the island’s communities need the most.

Immigration Results — 17 July

In its latest draw, the PEI PNP invited 39 skilled workers to submit applications for a provincial nomination.

To qualify for this round of invitations, candidates needed to meet several key requirements:

  • Hold a permanent, full-time, non-seasonal job offer from an approved PEI employer in an in-demand role
  • Have a minimum of one year of relevant, full-time work experience related to the job offer;
  • Be between 18 and 59 years of age
  • Have completed a minimum of secondary school education (high school diploma)
  • Provide valid language test results (taken within the last two years) with scores equivalent to CLB/NCLC level 4 or higher from an approved testing provider
  • Have sufficient financial resources to cover the costs of immigration, travel, and settlement for themselves and their accompanying family members.

The PEI Office of Immigration also confirmed that candidates living outside of Canada were considered for this draw if their employer obtained prior authorization to issue a job offer from PEI’s immigration authorities.

Designated In-Demand Occupations

As Prince Edward Island issues more ITAs for provincial nomination, it is vital to note that the PEI PNP continues to target specific occupations that are facing persistent labour shortages in the province.

The designated in-demand occupations for this round were:

Job Title  NOC Code
Nurse aides, orderlies and patient service associates  33102
Transport truck drivers  73300
Construction trades helpers and labourers  75110
Light duty cleaners  65310
Other labourers in processing, manufacturing and utilities  95109
Material handlers  75101
Process control and machine operators – food and beverage processing  94140
Industrial butchers and meat cutters, poultry preparers and related workers  94141

These roles reflect sectors where employers continue to struggle to find enough qualified local workers, making foreign talent essential to the province’s economic growth and stability.

What To Expect From The PEI PNP In 2025?

Canada’s provinces, including PEI, have received reduced nomination allocations from the federal government this year, which means provincial immigration programs are becoming more focused and competitive.

In response, PEI has indicated that it is narrowing its selection criteria and giving priority to skilled workers who can fill urgent gaps in critical sectors such as healthcare, skilled trades, childcare, and other industries facing significant shortages.

This strategic targeting helps ensure that newcomers bring the right skills to where they are needed most. As a result, applicants working in non-priority areas like retail sales and some service jobs may not be invited to apply at this time.

Factors That Influence PEI PNP Invitations

While job offers and priority occupations are key, the PEI Office of Immigration also considers several additional factors when deciding which candidates to invite. These include:

  • Strong language skills in English or French
  • The applicant’s education level, field of study, and where they completed their education
  • The occupational skill level and how much relevant work experience they have
  • Extra factors that affect employment potential, such as already having a valid job offer in PEI and/or previous Canadian work experience.

The province uses these criteria to ensure that nominated candidates are well-prepared to integrate into the local workforce and community and succeed in the long term.

PEI continues to welcome foreign workers who are ready to contribute to its economy and community. Candidates interested in applying should stay updated on the latest draws and speak with a trusted immigration professional to prepare strong applications.
