On March 2, the Canadian Government released 1,047 invitations for applicants to apply for immigration to Canada.
Applicants applying through PNP are only open to being invited by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada. The cut-off was 761 CRS points. The minimum score has been designed higher because candidates applying through provincial nomination are rewarded with 600 additional points. So, if 600 points are deducted, the score comes back to 161 points.
Candidates receiving the invitation to apply for Canadian PR are given 2 months.
The IRCC created a record by inviting 1,082 express entry candidates applying for permanent residency in Canada in its earlier round.
Positive words from Immigration Minister to skilled workers.
The Express Entry draw has still not resumed for immigrants applying under the category of Federal Skilled Worker Program and Canadian Experience Class from December 2020 and September 2021 respectively.
The immigration minister of Canada has put a statement in favor of recommencing draws for skilled daily wagers soon.
Although, there has been no particular date given by the minister. But he has assured that the Express Entry system will soon resume as earlier. Considering the Immigration Levels Plan 2022-2024, the number of skilled workers invited through Express Entry will be reduced to half. The targets may be raised back to normal in the Immigration Levels Plan 2023-2025.
Taking the Levels plan of this year into consideration, the Canadian Government is aiming to welcome 83,500 immigrants through PNP and Express Entry categories. The Canadian Government has raised its target as compared to the mentioned targets in its previous plan.
Regardless of the halt in CEC and FSWP draws, the IRCC is still inviting immigrants through PNP draws once in 2 weeks. Double the number of candidates were invited in February as compared to the invitations sent in January.
The immigration minister has promised to make the express entry more lenient. He also added utilizing the Express Entry system as a means to post replies to short-term queries. It has also been estimated that Express Entry draws for professional-specific candidates shortly.
Express Entry system
The tool through which the Canadian Government manages the immigrant’s application. Applications of CEC, FSWP, and FSTP categories are all directed under the Express Entry system.
The profiles of immigration candidates are ranked by the Comprehensive Ranking System. The candidates with the highest marks can apply for Canadian PR through an Invitation to Apply.
IRCC personnel decides whether to select the candidate after evaluating the complete application. Further, the applicant is called for submitting the biometrics and relevant documents.
The applications that get approval from IRCC are provided with a Confirmation of Permanent Residence. Those candidates become eligible for completing the process of moving to Canada. Immigrants coming from outside Canada can take advantage of pre-arrival facilities for moving to Canada.
ITA Invitation
Below is an imaginary example of a candidate getting an ITA through an Express Entry draw.
Priya is 40 years old and has graduated. She has been working as a software engineer for the past 5 years. She is proficient in the English language. She has never been to Canada but she aims to enter Canada. She applies through Express Entry and has been given a score of 300 CRS points. She has received an invitation from BC PNP. Her CRS score is now 900 which guarantees her to get an ITA.
