Travelers with a negative report of an antigen test done before arrival can enter the country.
Earlier, the Canadian Government was only accepting molecular/PCR tests that were taken prior 3 days of the flight.
Travelers who intend to cross borders older than 5 years still need to show a COVID-19 test. Whereas the new measures allow the travelers to take the antigen test one day prior to boarding the flight. The test has to be done through professional means either at a laboratory or healthcare center. It cannot be executed at home. Although no such changes have been made for early arrival PCR tests.
Kids who are not vaccinated will no longer need to undergo quarantine for 2 weeks.
ArriveCAN
This has been made mandatory for all travelers to submit important information like vaccination proof in either English or French language.
Unvaccinated tourists
Travelers who are not fully vaccinated will have to go through quarantine for 2 weeks. Also, they need to take a Covid test on the 8th day.
Travelers who have completed their Covid vaccinations
Travelers who are done with their vaccination process need not quarantine themselves, although they need to meet certain requirements like
- Early test Requirements before boarding the flight
- No related symptoms to Covid
- Submission of all required details related to Covid to ARRIVE CAN
- Full vaccination proof before boarding
- A quarantine plan in case of exemption
- Important Covid tests at the time of arrival because you can be randomly chosen for the Covid test at the moment of arrival.
If the randomly chosen person is completely vaccinated, they have to take the test and do not need to wait for the reports. There is no such rule made to quarantine till the time of reports. The travelers can move ahead to their destinations or can head towards their connecting flights if any.
This procedure can be made less time consuming if the traveler registers for the test beforehand by accessing the same email address used for ArriveCAN
Change in quarantine rules for kids of age 12
Children who are below the age of 12 years and moving with fully vaccinated parents do not need to quarantine.
These kids can be randomly chosen for tests at the time of arrival, but they do not need to be quarantined till the time of reports.
