Express Entry continues to hold on to its popular reputation as the primary pathway for welcoming immigrants to Canada. Currently, Canada is on its way to meeting the targeted immigrants of over 55,900 and this target will eventually increase to 111,500 by 2024.
This recent draw wasn’t program-specific, implying it was an all-program draw and it demanded the CRS score of a minimum of 542. Candidates under the CEC and FSWP were invited under this draw.
The CRS score decreased from 557 on July 6 to 542 in the latest draw. Comparatively, the invites sent during this draw also increased by 250 invites. The previous invitation round observed 1,500 invitations sent to eligible candidates under Express Entry.
Yet another draw since the December 2020 draw
The first invitation round was conducted after 18 months of pause on July 6, 2022. And, now there is another program draw conducted on July 20. Initially, before the all-program draws resumed, IRCC sent invites to either CEC candidates or PNP candidates, depending on the draw type. However, the current all-program draw implies that IRCC considers the CRS score from the Express Entry pool regardless of the programs they might be eligible for specifically. The only consideration was the CRS score; those eligible for the CRS score could receive an invitation to apply. There were draws conducted between January 2021 and September 2021. These draws took place for CEC and PNP candidates once every two weeks. The CEC applications were purposely stopped due to the estimate of exceeding the standard processing time of six months.
Even though the Express Entry all-program draws have returned to normal, the recent bill (Bill C-19) that was passed will require modifications for the Express Entry system. The government will likely execute the changes in 2023.
The main thing will be sending invitations to those candidates who fit the requirement of the economic goals of Canada.
Candidates will receive invites after being assessed regarding education credentials, language proficiency, occupation, and all other parameters concerning the labor market requirements.
Express Entry
Express Entry refers to an online system that evaluates applications for Canadian immigration. It comprises Canada’s three primary economic immigration programs: CEC, FSWP, and FSTP. Provincial Nominee Program makes its candidates automatically eligible for at least one program among the three.
Express Entry operates with a Comprehensive Ranking System in which the top scorers will receive the ITA to apply for permanent residency status.
The applications undergo the evaluation process which the IRCC officials do. They might demand more documents, arrange an interview, or request Biometrics. COPR (Confirmation of Permanent Residence) will be required once the application gets approved.
The last step would be to arrive in Canada and obtain permanent residency status.
