Recent PNP draws held by British Columbia and Manitoba issued invitations to eligible candidates. A majority of Canadian provinces and territories function their own set of PNPs, excluding Nunavut and Quebec. These Provincial Nominee Programs provide the opportunity for candidates to receive a provincial nomination. Furthermore, this provincial nomination takes people closer to permanent residence status. The Quebec province is responsible for governing its immigration programs. Also, the Quebec immigration programs are different from the Canadian immigration provinces. Moreover, Quebec is the only province with complete authority over selecting the economic class immigrants.
Interestingly, PNP contributes to at least 105,000 PR admissions every year. The Provincial Nominee Program came into existence in 1998, with a steady rise in the number of PNP admissions.
The Federal and Provincial governments believe that PNP effectively contributes to promoting economic development apart from Canadian urban centers.
Recent PNP draws held- results between December 31 and January 6
British Columbia
A general draw involving tech occupations took place recently, and on January 4, British Columbia sent 163 invitations to apply to eligible candidates.
The candidates received these invitations under the Skilled Worker and International Graduate categories, including Express Entry, Entry-Level, and Semi-Skilled candidates.
The minimum score eligibility under the SIRS was 105 concerning the International Graduate and Skilled Worker stream. On the other hand, Semi-Skilled and Entry-Level candidates had to fulfill a minimum score of 82. SIRS is pretty similar to Express Entry’s Comprehensive Ranking System. However, SIRS is functional only in British Columbia.
B.C. also conducted invitation rounds for candidates in the following occupations:
- Early Childhood Educators and Assistants- 28; a minimum score of 60 points.
- Twenty Healthcare Workers under the Skilled Worker and International Graduate categories (including Express Entry); a minimum score of 6o points.
Manitoba
On December 29, Manitoba province issued invitations to 280 candidates under the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program. Additionally, candidates will need to fulfill specific eligibility requirements with respect to their program. The province invited the following:
- Manitoba Skilled Workers sent 202 invitations to suitable candidates having a least score of 750.
- Skilled Workers Overseas sent 40 invitations to candidates, with 711 as the minimum score.
- The International Education Stream sent 38 invitations to candidates, with zero score requirements.
Additionally, out of all those candidates who received ITAs, 21 had Express Entry profiles. The Expressions of Interest sent to the province before November 16 will fall under the NOC 2016 and will be processed accordingly. However, other EOIs received on or after this date will undergo evaluation per the NOC 2021.
