Recent PNP draws were held in Ontario and British Columbia

The previous week witnessed the PNP draw results by Ontario and British Columbia. Provinces and territories in Canada work based on their PNPs. Candidates get a unique opportunity to apply for a provincial nomination through them. Initially, when the PNP was brought forth in 1998 and only 400 immigrants, PNP wasn’t the most prominent. However, it gradually acquired the status of the most popular pathway, with over 80,000 new immigrants annually coming through PNPs.

PNP admissions gained prominence because the provincial and federal governments contributed to the economic growth.

PNP- latest draw results between August 12-18

Ontario

Ontario conducted a recent draw on August 16 under the program Entrepreneur stream and sent 30 invitations to candidates with scores ranging from 138 to 160. This draw was conducted for the first time through the Entrepreneur stream.

The Ontario Immigration Nominee Program has several categories and candidates are supposed to submit an Expression of Interest. They must undergo an interview and agree to a performance contract with a signature if they receive an ITA. Depending upon their success, they will obtain a temporary work permit to immigrate to the country. After their arrival, they will have to execute a business plan and give a final review within 20 months.

Once they fulfill all business requirements, they must also present accurate documents to demonstrate their eligibility for permanent residence.

Candidates interested in the Entrepreneur Stream must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • They must have business experience of 24 months in the previous sixty months.
  • They have at least one-third share in the business equity.
  • They must have an active role in managing the business.
  • They must invest in a business with the objective of making a profit.
  • They must develop specific jobs for permanent residents and Canadian citizens if the business exists in Greater Toronto Area or acquire at least one full-time job position in case the business exists outside GTA.

British Columbia

Under the BC PNP, 223 invitations were sent to eligible candidates in the weekly PNP draw conducted regularly. Most of the candidates received invitations concerning tech occupations. 177 invites were sent to qualified candidates. Invitations were sent to candidates in several categories such as Skilled Worker and International Graduates. The draw comprised candidates under the Entry-level and Semi-Skilled candidates.

The SIRS score under the general draw turned out to be between 132 for Express Entry’s Skilled Workers to 78 for Semi-Skilled and Entry Level candidates.

SIRS and CRS have the same functioning but SIRS is specific to British Columbia’s PNP.

BC PNP held invitation rounds for the following occupations:

  • 26 Early Childhood Educators and Assistants with a score of a minimum of 60 points.
  • 15 Health Care Workers with a minimum score of 60 points.
  • 5 Health Care Assistants with a minimum score of 60 points only.

Immigration Routes- Express Entry and PNP

Express Entry is a virtual application system that assesses candidates by ranking them through programs such as FSWP, the Federal Skilled Trade Program, and the Canadian Experience Class.

Candidates receive a ranking based on the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) through work experience, education, language proficiency, and other factors akin to Human Capital.

If you attain a provincial nomination, you will be given 600 extra points under the CRS score, further widening the possibility of acquiring an ITA for permanent residency status.
