The time period to stay in Canada has been increased by 5 years for Super Visa applicants. Also, applicants possessing a Super Visa can demand to further elongate the time period of stay for up to 2 years.
In short, the total time period a Super Visa applicant can stay is 7 years. The Immigration Minister of Canada holds the power to assign international medical insurance companies to offer full insurance coverage to Super Visa applicants.
Currently, a Super Visa holder can stay up to 2 years in Canada per entry whereas a super Visa holder with multiple entries can stay up to 10 years in the country. At present, Canadian insurance service providers have the power to offer medical insurance to Super Visa holders, although the IRCC will soon update the further information regarding it.
Bill C-242 was proposed by the Conservation Party of Canada by Kyle Seeback. The latest press release indicated that the Liberal Party of Canada is in favor of the reforms made and is likely to support Bill C-242. The latest statistics show that approximately 17,000 super visas are issued to qualifying applicants every year.
The Super Visa has now become a substitution for Parents and Grandparents Programs in the last 10 years. The Parents and Grandparents Programs offer Canadian permanent residency to applicants, but its high demand leads to a larger number of enlisting applications than the actual spots available.
