STEM invitation rounds will occur soon for skilled newcomers

STEM invitation rounds will occur soon for skilled newcomers. Recently, the Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry declared the Express Entry category-based draw for STEM would be conducted on July 5 this year.

Candidates with experience in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics will gain preference in the draw when invitations are sent out. STEM will include data scientists, software developers and programmers, mathematicians, statisticians and actuaries, and electrical and electronic engineers.

With the help of this program, Canada wants to fulfill the rising demand for STEM talent. Also, it seeks to fill important positions that drive the country’s technical and economic development.

This news marks a significant turning point in Canada’s efforts to draw in top talent worldwide. Moreover, it attempts to maintain its position as a worldwide leader in R&D and innovation. The news is also in line with the Canadian government’s initiatives to attract and retain the best candidates to alleviate the shortage of STEM workers, building on the Tech Talent Attraction Strategy’s recent debut.

Candidates with skills in STEM, such as data scientists, software developers, and engineers, will receive invites first in the draw. The Honorable Minister Fraser revealed the new Express Entry category-based selection process last month. By encouraging individuals with particular work experience or fluency in French to seek permanent residence, category-based choices would improve Francophone immigration. It will address labor demands that serve a stated economic purpose.

“Our nation’s capacity to attract top talent from around the world plays a significant role in Canada’s ability to maintain its position at the forefront of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

Mr. Fraser further stated that he was excited to declare the STEM category-based selection draw with Mr. Champagne. It will enhance skilled newcomers’ ability to get closer to Permanent Residence if they have STEM experience. He even claimed he was enthusiastic about welcoming skilled and creative new immigrants to Canada.

Overall, the category-based selection draws will continue to take place throughout 2023, besides the general rounds of invitations. However, more information will be revealed in the upcoming weeks.
