Steps to prevent application processing delays – A brief guide

Here’s a brief guide for aspiring immigrants with the steps to prevent application processing delays. The idea is to help newcomers find their way to Canada as soon as possible. This is because a few aspiring immigrants face challenges during their application processing and this might deteriorate their Canadian journey.

Steps to prevent application processing delays

IRCC can’t assure applicants that they might not suffer from processing delays. However, it does offer a few steps that will significantly reduce the chances of such delays. Essentially, they must adhere to four steps before and after applying. The following steps are vital to avoid these blunders or unnecessary delays in the processing of their applications:

  • Filling out the application forms completely and signing: Ensure the completion of application forms and ensure signing wherever required. This is because failing to do the same might lead the department to return your application.
  • Match the application with the document checklist: IRCC will return your application if it does not consist of all the documents that are crucial per the document checklist.
  • Fee payment and receipt of payment – You must make the complete payment to IRCC and also provide proof by providing the payment receipts.
  • Right of Permanent Residence Fee – Applicants don’t need to make the RPR fee payment when applying for Permanent Residence. However, they must pay this fee at a stage when they are in the process of becoming permanent residents. IRCC confirms that one must pay this fee as soon as they receive a letter regarding the fee. As a result, they will be able to avoid further delays.

With effect from April 30, 2024, the fee for Canadian PR has risen from $515 CAD to $575 CAD.
