Valid Passport

Proof of Funds
You must have to attach or show proof of having sufficient funds while applying for a student visa. You have to show proof of having sufficient funds to show that you will be able to pay your fee and the expense of your stay in Canada. According to Canadian Immigration conditions, international students must have a minimum of CAD 10,000 to stay one year in Canada. Passport Size Photographs
If you are applying offline for a student visa then you require two passport-sized photographs but if you are applying online you have to submit two digital copies of your photographs which should be no more than 4MB with neutral facial expression, the background should be plain. Credit Card
If you are submitting your application online then you require a credit card also so that you can pay your application fee online. The fee to be paid for a student visa application is CAD 160 in Canada. The system accepts payment through credit cards only. You can pay with your parent’s credit card also.
If you are applying offline then you must have original copies of all important documents. Immigration authorities can ask for additional documents while taking your interview if required.
These documents may be to show your financial status. These may include:
- Transcripts.
- Your diplomas and degrees.
- Your higher secondary education certificates.
- Proof of your financial status or how you pay your educational, living and travel back expenses.
Determining How You Will Apply
You can apply for a student visa using two ways:
(a) Applying online
If you choose to submit your application online you have to arrange a scanner to make copies of the necessary documents to upload and a credit card to pay the application fee. You will be required at your local Visa Application Center (VAC). If you are applying online then you have to visit the VFS offices to make your passports and to submit confirmation of your form and fee payment.
(b) Applying in person
If you are applying offline then you require a copy of all important documents. you need to fill the consent form of VHF and submit it along with your application. It will offer you VFS services to guide you to make an application for a student visa. After submitting your application through VFS, offline or online, you have to pay additional fees as VFS service charges. These are non-refundable fees.
If you are applying along with your spouse, family and kids and you want to apply for a work visa or study visa for them then you have to pay a processing fee separately for them also. You have to make a submission of your application as well as the required documents to your nearest VFS office. You have to pay the service charges and handover them your application and they will issue you a receipt that obtains a tracking number by which you can track the processing of your application.
If your application will get approval then you get notification from the Canadian Government asking for your passport. You have to also submit a photocopy of your passport with a request letter using VFS services. You will receive a Temporary Resident visa along with a Letter of introduction.
Canada Student Visa Fee
A study permit application fee is CAD 150, in Canada. You can fill your student Visa Applications in both ways online/offline. You can pay the application fee in both ways online by using the credit card and offline by deposit demand draft to the High Commission. You have the option to make a payment with cash at the VAC. You have to pay this fee during the submission of your application and you will be issued a receipt of payment. You are ought to keep the receipt with you in order to be submitted later as proof of payment. After submitting your visa application you also have to pay a biometric fee which is CAD 85.
Processing Time for the Canada Student Visa
Processing time will start when you submit your visa application with all documents and processing fees. The processing period does not have any definite time period. The applicant whether you apply online or offline can check your processing status at MyCIC account.
Study Permit Renewal
To study in Canada, you need a student permit that is still valid. If your student visa expires before completing your studies then you can apply for the renewal of your student visa. You have to apply before 30 days until your present student visa expires.
