The province of Labrador and Newfoundland released the results for the first draw among the three draws that were contested under the Priority Skills Newfoundland and Labrador stream.
Until now the NLPNP or the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program solicited a total of 663 candidates to apply for the provincial nomination.
The Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) are for the highly educated, highly skilled newcomers with experience in a specialized field. Fields like ocean sciences, technology.
The program was introduced to help the shortage of local labor. In order to qualify for the program, the immigrants require work experience of at least one year in any of the programs that are listed under the in-demand occupations of Newfoundland. The program is also accessible for the people who have master’s or a doctorate degree in a memorial university in the past three years.
The function of the Priority Skills Program.
The program functions like an EOI or Expression of Interest. The candidates who have an interest to migrate to the province need to send in a complete EOI, to receive an ITA from the portal.
The candidate who has been invited will receive a nomination once the criteria are met for the following:
- Skilled worker
- Express Entry Skilled worker
The nomination will support a conquest application for a PR to the central government.
The applicants will have to fill a questionnaire to get the EOI score. The candidates who score above 60 points will be accessible to the employers who have an account with the province’s immigration and multiculturism office.
It’s not compulsory to have a job offer when applying for the PNP. The candidates have to score high in the EOI system and have interested employers.
A CLB or Candidate Language Benchmark score of at least 5 is required to be qualified. The results of the test must not be older than 12 months. The candidate should be 21 at the time and have an interest in living in the provinces.
