IRCC conducted the latest all-program Express Entry draw for the sixth time since July 6. It sent around 3,250 invitations to eligible candidates on September 14.
The minimum score fixed for this draw turned out to be 510 under the Comprehensive Ranking System. The invites were sent through Express Entry’s federal programs such as the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Canadian Experience Class, and the Federal Skilled Trade Program.
Express Entry proved beneficial as it was a popular immigration pathway to Canada. Before August 31, the draws had increased the invitations by 250. However, the previous draws displayed an increase in invitations with 500, and the latest sixth draw continues with the same. On the other hand, the minimum score also declined gradually from eight to nine. With this draw, there is only a decrease of 5 points. The minimum score under the CRS on July 6 was 557.
Earlier in December 2020, the all-program draw had to stop for over eighteen months. At that time, the eligible candidates attained eligibility for Canadian PR through PNP and CEC. The Canadian Experience Class also stopped the draws in September 2021.
Canada prepares to receive at least 432,000 immigrants
Canada is all set to break its previously existing records and the current one of 405,330 newcomers. The latter part of 2022 will witness over 300,000 new permanent residents coming over 2022.
Already the country received at least 40,785 immigrants under Express Entry. If immigration keeps up at the same pace and level then it is most likely to surpass the Immigration Levels Plan of welcoming over 432,000.
IRCC took several initiatives followed by new measures to make the application process completely digital. The department also planned to add 1,250 staff members.
The country is working toward covering up for its low unemployment rate and higher job vacancies through immigration. Retirement along with a reduced birth rate implies that Canada will depend massively on immigration to increase its labor force and economic growth.
2023 to display major challenges
IRCC looks forward to big changes in 2023. The department will have more authority to send ITAs to candidates having specific work experience, language skills, and education. They will have the power to select candidates they feel fit to meet the Canadian economy and labor force. However, the value of CRS scores in the draws would diminish.
Immigration Minister had justified this big change at a press conference. He stated that if they could understand well the essential skills required in the upcoming 20 to 30 years, it would be better to create a massive impact on the Canadian economy.
Express Entry
Express Entry manages immigration applications through its primary federal economic programs such as the CEC, the Federal Skilled Worker Program, and the FSTP.
PNP candidates who also exist in the Express Entry pool will become eligible for at least one of these programs.
Under the Express Entry system, candidates receive ranks based on the CRS. The candidates with top scores also receive an ITA and they further apply for permanent residency.
Once the candidate applies for PR, the department officer examines the application and decides the status of the candidate. Candidates will also need to provide their Biometrics, attend interviews, or submit more documents.
After this application procedure, the candidate becomes a Canadian permanent resident and becomes eligible to attain Canadian citizenship in the future.
