Most Canadian provinces and territories work with their PNPs but this isn’t true for provinces like Nunavut and Quebec. These programs are an excellent gateway for candidates to get nominated for a provincial nomination. A provincial nomination can provide the opportunity for aspiring candidates to acquire permanent residency status.
PNP candidates with existing profiles under Express Entry get 600 points in addition to their score. Getting these additional points also allows them to apply for the specific invitation rounds of PNP.
July 6, the all-program draw was conducted for the first time since its pause in 2020. 1,500 invitations to apply for permanent residence were sent to candidates with a minimum CRS score of 557.
The next all-program draw is likely to happen on July 20. The previous week involved two Canadian provinces, Ontario and British Columbia issuing invitations to potential immigrants.
Here’s a gist of the two new draws that took place:
British Columbia
British Columbia regularly organizes PNP draws every week. The BC PNP invitation rounds took place on July 12. In this draw, over 164 candidates received ITAs for permanent residency.
A general draw that was conducted had 132 candidates who received invitations. The candidates must fulfill the eligibility under British Columbia’s Skill Immigration categories and Express Entry BC. SIRS (Skills and Immigration Registration System) handles both categories.
This draw invited candidates from three sub-categories: Skilled Worker, International Graduate, and Entry-Level and Semi-Skilled. The minimum score required was between 78 and 130 based on the stream.
The province of British Columbia consistently conducted draws to address the labor shortage in specific sectors in particular occupations.
The province sent the following invites:
- Twenty-two early childhood educators have a minimum score of 60- NOC 4214.
- Ten workers in the healthcare sector with a minimum score of 70.
- Below 5 healthcare assistants have a minimum score of 60-NOC 3413.
- Below 5 Animal health technologists and veterinarians had a minimum score of 60- NOC 3114 and NOC 3213.
Ontario
755 invitations were sent to candidates under the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program who might also qualify for Ontario Express Entry Skilled Trades Stream. The minimum score of 310 under the Express Entry’s Comprehensive Ranking System was the requirement. The invitations were sent to those candidates through Ontario who had their Express Entry profiles created from the period of July 14, 2021, to July 14, 2022.
The Skilled Trades Stream under Ontario’s Express Entry allows for CEC and FSWP candidates to apply for permanent residency.
The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program sent invitations to candidates so that they can apply for permanent residence.
This program requires the candidates to live in Ontario and have a valid work permit at the same time. Work experience equal to one year based on full-time is needed. The same applies to part-time work as well. The candidates must possess work experience falling under the category of Skilled Trade according to the Minor Group 633 or Major Group- 72, 73, or 82. It must be listed under the NOC (National Occupational Classification).
