The latest round of PNP draws took place last week for four Canadian provinces, including Saskatchewan, British Columbia, Ontario, and Prince Edward Island. Candidates received invitations to apply under the Provincial Nominee Programs. A Provincial Nomination significantly varies from the Permanent Residence, but it takes the applicant a step closer to acquiring permanent residence from IRCC.
A majority of provinces and territories in Canada, excluding Nunavut and Quebec, function through a set of separate Provincial Nominee Programs. Moreover, these candidates might receive an ITA for a provincial nomination.
Essentially, Quebec governs and administers its immigration programs, and these vary from Canadian immigration programs.
PNP is responsible for bringing at least 105,000 permanent residents each year. The concept of PNP emerged in 1998, with a steady increase in PNP admissions. Furthermore, the provincial and federal governments believe that PNP is a constructive tool to encourage economic development other than the urban centers.
The latest round of PNP draws- results between December 17-December 23
Ontario
On December 19, Ontario sent at least 933 invitations of interest to Express Entry candidates under the Human Capital Priorities Stream with considerable work experience in tech occupations. Moreover, the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program focused on candidates with CRS scores between 484 and 490. However, once the letters are issued, the department doesn’t immediately reveal their number.
Candidates must ensure that their profile already exists in the pool of Express Entry under the Canadian Experience Class and Federal Skilled Workers Program.
British Columbia
British Columbia issued a minimum of 153 invitations to candidates concerning targeted draws on December 20. The Skilled Worker and International Graduates categories issued the invitations, including Express Entry candidates.
Candidates had to meet the SIRS score cut-off of 90. SIRS is similar in its function to the Comprehensive Ranking System under Express Entry and applies to only British Columbia’s PNP.
British Columbia conducted invitation rounds for those working in the following occupations:
- Fifteen Early Childhood Educators and Assistants, and the minimum score was 60 points.
- The five Skilled Workers and International Graduates category, along with the Express Entry category, has the least score of 60 points.
The latest round of PNP draws-Saskatchewan
Saskatchewan held the latest PNP draw under the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program on December 21, 2022. This province issued invitations to 153 candidates through the Express Entry stream and also sent 315 ITAs under the In-Demand Occupations stream, equivalent to 468 invitations. Both categories demanded a minimum score of 80 points.
Prince Edward Island
Prince Edward Island issued invites to 127 candidates for the Express Entry and Labour stream under Prince Edward Island’s PNP on December 15. It comprised at least seven candidates under the Business Work Permit Entrepreneur with the least score of 62 points.
Overall, in 2022, PEI issued invitations to around 1,854 candidates. Candidates under Express Entry seeking to receive a nomination by this province will need to submit an Expression of Interest separately to PEI PNP.
EOI profiles receive scores based on the point-based grid system similar to the CRS system, where the candidates with the highest scores receive ITAs. Also, this implies that the top candidates receive invitations to apply through the month-based draws.
