The recent PNP draw was held for Canadian provinces

The four Canadian provinces issued invitations to eligible candidates. The most recent PNP draw was held for British Columbia, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Prince Edward Island.

The PNP emerged for the first time in 1998 and welcomed only 400 immigrants. With the gradual success of the Provincial Nominee Program, there were about 80,000 candidates receiving invites annually.

This increase in the number of immigrants happened only because the federal and provincial governments gave importance to the efficiency of PNPs. It was considered an effective strategy for the economic development of the country.

Usually, the provinces and territories in Canada work with separate PNPs. However, Nunavut and Quebec provinces remain an exception. PNPs help interested candidates to receive an invitation to apply for a Provincial Nomination.

Permanent Residence and Provincial Nomination aren’t the same. However, receiving a provincial nomination can surely help in enhancing the CRS score of an individual. It can also help in the attainment of permanent resident status.

PNP candidates who have also created their Express Entry profiles get an extra 600 points added to their total score. They also gain eligibility to apply for PNP-specific invitation rounds.

PNP results between September 9 and 16

Prince Edward Island

Prince Edward Island issued invitations to 142 eligible candidates. It sent the invitations through the Labour and Express Entry streams. Also, 5 more invites were sent to the candidates via Business Work Permit Entrepreneur Streams. Thus, a total of 147 invites were issued.

Candidates under the Express Entry wish to receive a nomination by PEI must also send an Expression of Interest separately to the PEI Provincial Nominee Program.

EOI candidates also receive a score under the point-grid system of the Comprehensive Ranking System. Candidates with superior ranks receive ITAs in monthly draws.

Prince Edward Island conducts the draws each month through the PEI PNP.

Manitoba

Manitoba province sent invites under the Ukraine program on September 14. The prevalent crisis in Ukraine resulted in the refugees collaborating with IRCCs (CUAET) Canada Ukraine Authorization for Emergency Travel.

Manitoba PNP candidates also require to fulfill basic criteria.

MPNP issues the Expression of Interest to candidates with the following eligibility:

  • Ukrainian citizens
  • CLB 4 as their minimum score in all language abilities
  • Established ties with Manitoba province through known people- family members, relatives, community, previous studies, and employment.
  • Language exam validity
  • A minimum score of 60 is required based on the MPNP assessment criteria.

British Columbia

British Columbia province sent invitations to around 290 candidates to apply for a provincial nomination under BC PNP. The province usually conducts a weekly PNP draw.

227 candidates received invites through a general tech draw including all technical occupations. The recent PNP draw didn’t target the candidates outside Vancouver Regional district compared to the previous draw.

The candidates received invites under the categories of Skilled Workers and International Graduates. Express Entry candidates were also included in the category.

Entry Level and Semi-Skilled candidates also participated in the draw. SIRS score fell between 78 to 120.

The role of SIRS is similar to that of the Comprehensive Ranking System. However, SIRS applies only to British Columbia.

British Columbia also conducted targeted invitation rounds for eligible candidates for the following candidates:

  • Early Childhood Educators and Assistants (27)- minimum of 60 points
  • Healthcare workers (12) – 60 points
  • Healthcare Workers and Assistants- score of 60 points
  • Other occupations (priority) with at least 60 points

Saskatchewan

Saskatchewan issued invitations to at least 326 candidates on September 15. These draws were based on the in-demand occupations under NOC via the Express Entry System.

The minimum score for candidates turned out to be 60 points. The score applied to both categories of Express Entry and In-demand occupations. 53 and 273 invitations were sent to candidates under the Express Entry and In-demand categories respectively.
