Last week, three provinces in Canada, that is, Manitoba, British Columbia, and Saskatchewan, declared the results of the Provincial Nominee Program Draws.
The provinces and territories of Canada comprise individual Provincial Nominee Programs, excluding Quebec and Nunavut. Provincial Nominee Programs are an excellent pathway for all those candidates seeking to apply for permanent residency status.
The Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) was launched in 1998. This program initially welcomed only 400 immigrants, but gradually, its success led to over 80,000 immigrants annually.
Provincial Nomination makes it easier to obtain the status of permanent residency. Suppose a candidate of the Provincial Nominee Program has an Express Entry profile created; he will receive 600 more points apart from the CRS score. These additional points also prove their eligibility for the specific PNP invitation rounds.
The growing popularity and demand for PNPs are also because even the federal and provincial governments observed that these programs effectively contributed to the country’s economy.
Since the pause of the all-program draws, Express Entry emphasized more on the candidates under the Provincial Nominee Programs. On July 6, IRCC re-started the all-program draws for all three immigration streams, the Federal Skilled Workers Program (FSWP), the Canadian Experience Class (CEC), and the Federal Skilled Trade Program (FSTP).
The all-program draw began on July 6 with 1,500 invitations being sent to candidates to apply for PR status in Canada with a minimum CRS score of 557.
British Columbia usually conducts weekly invitation rounds (BC PNP) and the latest rounds were conducted on July 5. The invitation rounds had over 128 candidates who received the invites for a provincial nomination. The weekly draw this time revolved around particular activities.
The Tech draw also sent invitations to a hundred candidates, and the minimum SIRS (Skills and Immigration Registration System, score of 85 points is required from them. They also have to fulfill all the eligibility requirements of British Columbia’s Express Entry B.C or categories under the Skilled Immigration.
British Columbia also conducted invitation rounds for candidates working under occupations such as:
- 21 Childhood educators and assistants with 60 scoring points and NOC 4214.
- 7 workers in the healthcare sector with a minimum of 60 scoring points.
- Veterinarians and animal health technologists (below 5)- NOC 3114.
- Veterinary Technicians with a minimum of 60 scoring points- NOC 3213.
Manitoba
348 candidates received invitations through the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Programs (MPNP) on July 4. Invitations sent can be classified under three immigration streams- Skilled Workers in Manitoba, Skilled Workers Overseas, and International Education Stream.
- The minimum score for Skilled Workers in Manitoba is 773 with 186 invitations.
- The minimum score for Skilled Workers Overseas is 711 with 83 invitations.
- Zero score requirement for International Education Stream with 79 invitations.
Over 59 candidates, out of the entire set of candidates who received the invitations, already had their Express Entry profiles. If you would like to receive a nomination from Manitoba, it will be important to send an EOI Expression of Interest through the MPNP. It is only after the completion of this step that they will be ready to get the LAA through the two streams-Skilled Workers in Manitoba and Skilled Workers Overseas.
The province of Manitoba evaluates and provides positions to the profiles of candidates. These rankings are based on the human capital factors and their association with each province. They obtained the rankings out of 1000 points and only eligible candidates receive invitations for provincial nomination applications.
Saskatchewan
The Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) conducted the first draw on July 6 in which it sent invitations to 677 candidates for Provincial Nomination. This draw is considered the largest one by Saskatchewan until now.
The invitation round conducted on July 6 had 279 invitations sent to the Express Entry candidates along with 398 invitations sent to the candidates of Occupations-In demand. Candidates were supposed to have a minimum score of 73 under the Expression of Interest. Prior work experience in any of the 21 occupations was also required.
Amidst the Ukraine crisis, the province also sent 5 invitations to apply for a provincial nomination to a Ukraine national on July 6. The sub-category of the Entrepreneur had invitations sent through Saskatchewan province. It selected 64 candidates from the pool of the Expression of Interest with scores between 80 and 130 points.
