Three Canadian cities enter the Top-10 list of livable cities

The Global Livability Index list of 2022 ranked three Canadian cities among the top ten most livable cities in the world.

Calgary in Alberta made it to the top-third position in the list, but there was a tie with Zurich. Calgary performed well in education and infrastructure but lagged in culture and environment. Vienna and Copenhagen rank the first and second positions, respectively. Whereas Vancouver grabbed the fifth position and Toronto acquired the eighth position. However, there’s an increase in the ranking compared to 2021 because Toronto was seen at the 20th position. Damascus, Lagos, and Tripoli were the last rankings due to the unsafe living standard and dangerous threats of terrorism prevailing within these cities.

The Economic Intelligence Unit (EIU) has worked on the analysis concerning global development and its effect on the population over the years. They’ve spent 70 years on research and monitoring. EIU releases its reports each year regarding the livability of cities across the globe. These reports are based on environment, culture, healthcare, education, stability, and infrastructure. This year’s report comprises 172 cities with an addition of over 33 cities compared to the 2021 report.

The livability condition generally showed improvements in a few aspects.  Therefore, there is an improvement in the scores of almost all the cities. With an increase in vaccinated people, the culture and environment score gained momentum compared to 2021. The healthcare sector also showed immense growth because of the ease of medical conditions with the decline of covid. Initially, there was extreme pressure on the medical systems across the globe.

On the other hand, the average level of stability has come down.

Canada continues to maintain its safe and stable culture

Interestingly, Canada managed to reach the Top-ten list of livable cities with three of its cities. Attaining a rank in the top-ten list implies that it is one of the world’s most desirable countries for immigrants. The capacity to tolerate and its stable culture are two things that make rank to the top list effortlessly.

Canadian Bureau for international education conducted research and ranked it in number one position in terms of its stability factor for all international students.

Canada has set its 2024 target of welcoming 450,000 permanent residents every year. It also consists of a hundred immigration pathways for those seeking permanent residency status.

Permanent Residency

Express Entry

Express Entry remains one of the most renowned pathways to attain permanent residency. Express Entry comprises three primary economic immigration pathways that provide ranks to candidates under the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) against one another. The programs are FSWP, FSTP, and Canadian Experience Class

The candidates are supposed to self-check regarding their eligibility for any one of the programs. Their next step will be to make a profile for Express Entry to achieve the CRS score.

The CRS score will be evaluated based on factors, including work experience, education, language proficiency, and human capital.

IRCC will invite the candidate only if he attains a higher score under CRS.

Provincial Nominee Programs

Almost all of Canada’s provinces work perfectly with the Canadian government. However, the two exceptions are Nunavut and Quebec. PNP provides the opportunity for skilled immigrants to apply to the province. The Provincial Nominee programs will select appropriate candidates perfect for a province.

Quebec

The province of Quebec has its separate process with unique eligibility criteria. If selected by the province, the candidates and their family members will receive a Quebec Selection Certificate (CSQ). After receiving the CSQ, they can proceed with the permanent residency application.
