This week, three provinces in Canada issued provincial nominations. Applicants were invited through specific PNP streams based on their professional skills, past work experience, and education. In addition, an immigration stream is a pathway to permanent residency, which can contain sub-streams and often targets a particular aspect of an applicant’s profile.
Every Provincial Nominee Program uses its own scoring system to rank candidates’ eligibility for immigration. Moreover, these scores should not be compared across different PNPs.
In addition, some PNP streams are ‘enhanced’, implying that they align with the federal government’s Express Entry system, which considers candidates in the federal immigration pool.
Also, applicants in the Express Entry pool who receive a nomination certificate from a PNP can earn an additional 600 CRS points, which almost guarantees them an ITA, i.e., an invitation to apply via Express Entry.
