Three provinces shared PNP results amid Ontario’s PNP allocation

Three provinces shared PNP results amid Ontario’s PNP allocation of 21,500 nominations in 2024. In 2023, the number of nominations was 16,500, which indicates a rise of 5,000 nominations. The increase in Ontario’s allocation occurred after the FMRI meeting in November last year. In this meeting, ministers of all Canadian provinces or territories met Marc Miller to discuss the impact of immigration on their jurisdiction. Each Canadian province or territory, excluding Nunavut and Quebec, receives allocations for PNP nominations. However, not all Canadian provinces reveal their allocations publicly.

This year’s rise in the number of allocations is nothing unusual. In this meeting, the Canadian provinces and territories demanded more authority in terms of provincial nominations. They sought a high number of allocations. This is evident through the Canadian PR target of 2024 via the Provincial Nominee Program. The federal Immigration Levels Plan will bring at least 110,000 new permanent residents under the PNP. This number is higher compared to the federal Express Entry program.

The same meeting also occurred in March last year, wherein the FMRI introduced a multi-level PNP allocation plan for provinces to execute a better local infrastructure. This plan will assist them in meeting the needs of the current population and new immigrants.

Ontario hasn’t revealed anything officially regarding the allocations for the following two years.

British Columbia

British Columbia issued invitations to 83 candidates in four draws on April 3 under the British Columbia PNP. The largest draw occurred and issued invitations to 30 candidates under five categories. The minimum score requirement was 130 for the following:

  • Skilled Workers
  • Skilled Workers Stream with EEBC option
  • International Graduates

On the other hand, International Graduates with EEBC option required a minimum score of 125. In addition, the Entry-Level and Semi-Skilled candidates had to meet a minimum score requirement of 107.

British Columbia even conducted three targeted draws for Skilled Workers and International Graduates, having EEBC options in particular occupations. These consist of the following:

  • Childcare occupations – 18 candidates, the minimum score was 90.
  • Healthcare occupations – 25 candidates, the minimum score was 90.
  • Construction occupations – 10 candidates, the minimum score was 95.

Alberta shared its PNP results

48 candidates received invitations under the Dedicated Healthcare Pathway with Alberta employment offer through the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program. This appears as a stream aligning with Express Entry, with all candidates receiving a score under the Comprehensive Ranking System.

Also, for this draw, candidates had to score above 300 or more than this to get a nomination. This year, it was the eighth draw.

Prince Edward Island

On April 4, Prince Edward Island issued 66 invitations to candidates under the Labor and Express Entry stream. These were candidates involved in healthcare, early childhood education, and manufacturing.

This emerged as the first draw this month for the Prince Edward Island PNP. However, this year, it is the sixth draw.
