The four Canadian provinces, namely Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and British Columbia, conducted their weekly PNP draws. Their results were released recently. PNPs help interested candidates to receive invitations to apply for a provincial nomination.
A provincial nomination is an initial step for eligible candidates toward attaining permanent residency status by enhancing the score under the Comprehensive Ranking System.
When candidates under the Provincial Nominee Program already have Express Entry profiles also receive an additional score of 600 points. With the increase in their score, they also gain the eligibility to apply for PNP invitation rounds.
The PNP started with just 400 immigrants when it was launched for the first time in 1998. Gradually, it became dominant and successful, with more people immigrating using the PNP pathway. Thus, the provincial and federal governments used it as an impactful tool to contribute to the Canadian economy.
September 2 to 8- PNP draws
Saskatchewan
Saskatchewan sent 1,703 invitations to candidates on September 6 and 7. These invitations are double the ones sent in the previous draw on September 1, 2022’s most significant draw.
Saskatchewan conducted targeted draws on September 6. These targeted draws had specific targets of in-demand occupations and took place via the Express Entry system.
For each category, two draws happened, and 760 candidates received invitations. The minimum scores differed from one another. For a few NOC categories, the score turned out to be 61, while for the rest, it was 69.
The total number of candidates under the two categories was 943. On September 7, 521 Express Entry candidates and 422 in-demand occupation candidates received invitations with minimum scores of 70 each.
The recent PNP draws in Saskatchewan are following the pattern of sending more invites to candidates. Before July, the province held draws once in two months. However, Saskatchewan wouldn’t send more than 500 invites to candidates for each draw.
Ontario
Ontario province also conducted a draw under the Skilled Trades Stream of Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program on September 7. 1,521 candidates received invitations with a minimum score of 320 and above. The stream is in sync with Express Entry, providing candidates (with invitations) with extra points under the CRS. They further receive an ITA to apply for permanent residence under the federal pool of Express Entry.
British Columbia
British Columbia sent over 369 invitations to eligible candidates to apply for a provincial nomination on September 7. BC conducts weekly draws for PNP. 361 candidates received invitations under the tech occupations category in regional or targeted draws. These draws only invited candidates who possessed valid employment offers from outside the regional district of Metro Vancouver.
There also might be a different set of parameters to receive invitations, including the following:
- Language proficiency and occupation.
- Skill level concerning work experience.
- Intention to live, work, and settle in a particular region.
- Educational level, education field, and the place from which you pursued your education.
- The skill level and wages mentioned in your job offer.
- Factors involving particular requirements of the labor market in British Columbia.
- Help and support the Canadian government regarding the new measures and pilot projects.
There were two categories, namely the Skilled Worker and International Graduates, including the Express Entry candidates who received invitations. Entry-level and Semi-skilled candidates also received invitations.
The targeted regional draw consisted of 95 as the minimum score under the SIRS for skilled workers. The Entry-level and semi-skilled categories had a minimum score of 71. SIRS functions the same way as Express Entry’s CRS system. However, SIRS is specifically used for BC PNP only.
The following occupations held invitation rounds in B.C province:
- Eight Childhood Educators and Assistants with a minimum score of 60.
- Healthcare workers hold a minimum score of 60.
Manitoba
Manitoba conducted the latest PNP draw on September 8 and sent 278 invitations through the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program.
The number of invites can be classified under three primary streams including:
- Manitoba’s Skilled Workers sent 217 invites with a minimum score of 616.
- Skilled Workers Overseas sent at least 20 invitations with a minimum score of 703.
- Zero scores are required for the International Education Stream sending 41 invitations.
Those candidates who received the invitations to apply also comprised 79 candidates with already created Express Entry profiles.
