Weekly provincial immigration results of five Canadian provinces came out recently. These provinces are Alberta, Manitoba, Quebec, British Columbia, and Ontario.
Canada’s provincial immigration patterns vary. For instance, despite the majority of Canadian provinces and territories having PNPs, Quebec does not because of a unique arrangement with the federal government. This agreement enables it to choose all of its economic immigrants.
PNPs assist provinces in focusing on economic immigration applicants. However, these applicants are those who have the greatest potential to increase employment opportunities and benefit the provincial labor force. PNPs often feature separate streams for entrepreneurs in the agriculture, ICT, and healthcare industries.
Targeting economic immigrants has proven to be very effective for the PNP. So much so that IRCC has recently adopted the application management system for Express Entry. On a national level, there are now six distinct categories for in-demand professions. Five of the six Express Entry invitation rounds held by IRCC between June 27 and July 7 occurred for jobs that qualified for category-based selection.

Ontario
On July 6, the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program opened nomination applications for the Express Entry Human Capital Priorities stream from 748 PNP candidates. It was a draw for technical positions, and applicants needed a CRS score between 479 and 485.
The IRCC allows a certain number of candidates each province may put forth. Ontario can invite 16,500 candidates for the PNP in 2023, the biggest number in Canada. This is almost twice the 9,500 distributions in 2022.
Quebec
Quebec recently updated its provincial immigration results to reflect that, as of June 29. 1,218 people had the chance to apply for permanent selection by the Minister of Immigration, Francization, and Integration.
According to the Échelle québécoise des niveaux de compétence en français des personnes immigrantes adultes or its equivalent, candidates must have oral French competence at level 7 or beyond that.
Additionally, they must be employed in a profession with a particular NOC code. Depending on the eligible NOC in this draw, a different minimum score was required. The average score ranged from 584 for some to 592 for others.
British Columbia
On July 5, British Columbia conducted three draws for 137 applicants in the following:
- BC PNP’s Skilled Workers and
- International Graduate streams (including Express Entry).
With a minimum Skills Immigration Registration System score of 90, 97 individuals received invitations to the largest draw.
Additionally, the final two draws occurred for 17 candidates in healthcare occupations and 23 candidates for early childhood teachers and assistants.
Every Tuesday, similar draws take place to invite candidates to British Columbia.
Weekly provincial immigration results – Manitoba
Late on June 29, Manitoba held a draw in which 587 applicants obtained Letters of Advice to Apply in three streams throughout four drawings.
One of two draws may have been open to Skilled Workers. The first required a minimum score of 613 and invited 315 candidates for a specific career. The jobs taken into consideration are as follows:
- Food Service Supervisors
- Restaurant and Food Service Managers
- Kitchen helpers, Food counter attendants, and other support professions
An additional 184 letters of recommendation were sent to skilled workers with at least a 662 score across all professions.
With a minimum score of 717, 62 candidates from the international education stream and 26 skilled workers abroad received invitations to the final two draws.
Alberta
Alberta recently published the June 29 draw results. 12 applicants from the Express Entry Dedicated Healthcare Pathway, Alberta Job Offer got invitations to participate in the province’s small draw.
The lowest-scoring qualified applicant received a CRS of 354. Alberta has invited 105 candidates through this stream since April of this year.
