Manitoba invites more skilled workers for provincial nomination in its most recent immigration draw.
The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) issued new invitations under its Skilled Worker stream. These invitations were sent to candidates through both the Skilled Worker in Manitoba and Skilled Worker Overseas pathways.
Latest Draw Summary
On November 21, the MPNP issued invitations through both pathways of its Skilled Worker Stream. In this round, Manitoba selected candidates who had already been chosen under a strategic recruitment initiative. These initiatives help the province find workers who can support Manitoba’s labour needs.
In total, 35 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) were sent out. These invitations were issued through the four initiatives listed below.
| Skilled Recruitment Initiative | Number Of LAAs Issued |
| Employer Services | 18 |
| Francophone Community | 8 |
| Regional Communities | 8 |
| Temporary Public Policy to Facilitate Work Permits for Prospective Provincial Nominee Program Candidates (TPP) | 1 |
Since June 2025, the MPNP has focused mainly on drawing candidates who were selected under recruitment initiatives. This shows the province’s goal of bringing in workers who are already connected to Manitoba or who have shown strong interest in settling in the province.
Of the 35 invitations issued in this draw, five candidates had a valid Express Entry profile and a job seeker validation code.
The MPNP also explained that even if a candidate meets all the requirements, they may still not receive an invitation if:
- They said they took an approved English or French language test, but
- did not enter a valid test number, or
- their test results have expired.
- They said they received an invitation under a strategic recruitment initiative, but did not include a valid invitation number.
Understanding Strategic Recruitment Initiatives
Strategic recruitment initiatives (SRIs) are special efforts made by Manitoba to find skilled workers inside and outside Canada. These initiatives help the province identify workers who can fill important job shortages or support Manitoba’s long-term goals.
Candidates cannot apply directly to these initiatives. Instead, the MPNP chooses candidates who match their needs and invites them by issuing a Letter of Invitation. This letter must be added to the candidate’s Expression of Interest (EOI) profile.
What Are Recruitment Missions?
Recruitment missions are events organized by the MPNP, often in partnership with Manitoba employers. These missions usually take place overseas. During these events, program officers and employers:
- Meet skilled workers
- Share job information
- Explain ways to immigrate through the MPNP
If someone wants to take part in a recruitment mission, they must wait for announcements from the MPNP. Moreover, the information may include how to register, how to submit a résumé, or how to show basic eligibility.
What Are Exploratory Visits?
An exploratory visit is a short, planned trip where skilled workers can visit Manitoba before applying. These visits help candidates understand if they truly want to live and work in the province. They also give Manitoba officers a chance to interview and assess candidates.
To take part:
- A candidate submits a request to the MPNP.
- If accepted, the MPNP sends instructions on how to arrange the visit.
- The visit must be planned and approved by the MPNP; candidates cannot organize it on their own.
During the visit, candidates can:
- Explore communities
- Learn about job markets
- Meet employers
- Talk to regulatory bodies (if their job is regulated)
- Look at housing, schools, and lifestyle options
The MPNP interviews the candidate during the visit. After the interview, the province may issue a formal invitation. It is this invitation, not simply visiting Manitoba, that creates the official “connection to Manitoba” required to apply for the Skilled Worker stream.
