Provincial nominees receive ITAs in a new Express Entry draw, i.e., Canada’s immigration department has held a new Express Entry draw, marking the first selection round since late May.
In the latest round, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) issued 955 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) to candidates who had received a provincial nomination. Provincial nominees continue to play an important role in Canada’s immigration system, as provinces use their nomination programs to address local labour shortages and economic needs.
To receive an invitation in this draw, candidates needed to meet two requirements:
- A minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 730; and
- Created an Express Entry candidate profile before 1:02 a.m., Universal Coordinated Time (UTC) on March 9, 2026.
The CRS score requirement was lower than several recent Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draws held earlier this year. Candidates who receive a provincial nomination gain an additional 600 CRS points, which significantly improves their chances of receiving an invitation through Express Entry.

Draw Trends In 2026
So far this year, IRCC has focused much of its Express Entry activity on candidates already living and working in Canada. Provincial nominees, Canadian Experience Class (CEC) candidates, and French-speaking applicants have received the majority of invitations.
The breakdown of draw types conducted this year is shown below:
| Draw Type | Number Of Draws |
| Provincial Nominee Program | 12 |
| Canadian Experience Class | 9 |
| French-Language proficiency | 6 |
| Physicians with Canadian work experience | 1 |
| Healthcare and social services | 1 |
| Senior Managers with Canadian Work Experience | 1 |
| Trades | 1 |
Provincial nominee draws have been the most frequent category in 2026, highlighting the continued importance of provincial immigration programs in selecting skilled workers.
Total Invitations Issued In 2026
Canada has issued 80,796 invitations through Express Entry so far in 2026.
The distribution of invitations across draw categories is as follows:
| Draw Type | ITAs Issued |
| Canadian Experience Class | 37,250 |
| French-Language proficiency | 30,500 |
| Provincial Nominee Program | 5,405 |
| Healthcare and social services | 4,000 |
| Trades | 3,000 |
| Physicians with Canadian work experience | 391 |
| Senior Managers with Canadian Work Experience | 250 |
Canadian Experience Class candidates remain the largest group of invitees this year. French-language draws also continue to account for a significant share of invitations as Canada works to strengthen French-speaking communities outside Quebec.
With this latest draw, provincial nominees have once again received an opportunity to move one step closer to Canadian permanent residence. Many candidates will now prepare and submit their permanent residence applications following receipt of their invitations.
