Manitoba Invites Skilled Worker Candidates In A New Draw

Manitoba invites skilled worker candidates in a new draw, i.e., on June 18, 2026, Manitoba issued 124 invitations to candidates through the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP). The invitations were sent under the Skilled Worker in Manitoba and Skilled Worker Overseas pathways.

The province selected candidates who stated in their profiles that they had received a direct invitation from the MPNP through a strategic recruitment initiative or that they held a Manitoba-supported work permit.

Most invitations in this round were issued through the Employer Services initiative.

This was Manitoba’s 12th immigration draw of 2026. All invitations issued this year have been through the Skilled Worker Stream.

Draw Details

Below is the full breakdown of the Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) distribution by strategic recruitment initiative:

Strategic Recruitment Initiative LAAs Issued
Employer Services 49
Temporary Public Policy to Facilitate Work Permits for Prospective Provincial Nominee Program Candidates (TPP) 32
Regional Communities 19
Francophone Community 15
Ethnocultural Communities 9

Out of the 124 invitations issued in this draw, 22 were sent to candidates who had a valid Express Entry profile number and job seeker validation code.

Moreover, to be considered, candidates needed to indicate in their Expression of Interest (EOI) profile that they had received an invitation through a recruitment mission or through the Temporary Public Policy to Facilitate Work Permits for Prospective Provincial Nominee Program Candidates (TPP).

The TPP has since expired. However, Manitoba continues to invite eligible individuals who previously received support letters under the policy.

On May 1, 2026, the MPNP announced that it would hold targeted EOI draws for candidates who received TPP support letters. The province stated that it would begin by inviting individuals whose support letters were approved between April 22 and June 30, 2025.

The province also noted that some candidates may not have received an invitation even if they appeared to meet the draw requirements. This can happen for several reasons, including:

  • The candidate included an approved English or French language test but entered an invalid test number, or the results had expired; or
  • The candidate claimed to have received an invitation through a strategic recruitment initiative but did not provide a valid invitation number.

As of June 18, Manitoba has issued a total of 1,833 invitations to apply for provincial nomination in 2026.

For comparison, the federal government allocated 6,239 nomination spaces to Manitoba for 2026. Provincial data released in May showed that Manitoba had already nominated 2,165 skilled workers this year.

The difference between invitations and approved nominations is likely because many successful nomination applications came from invitations issued in 2025.

Recent MPNP Updates

Closure Of The Manitoba Career Employment Pathway

On June 11, 2026, Manitoba closed the Career Employment Pathway (CEP) under its International Education Stream.

The change took effect immediately. The province encouraged former CEP candidates with at least six months of work experience in Manitoba to move to the Skilled Worker in Manitoba pathway. These individuals were also advised to update their EOI profiles to remain eligible for future draws.

Work Permit Support For Rural Manitoba Employers

On April 14, 2026, Manitoba introduced two temporary measures to help employers outside the Winnipeg Census Metropolitan Area hire and retain foreign workers.

The first measure allows employers to keep their current share of low-wage Temporary Foreign Worker Program positions above the normal limit. The second increases the cap on low-wage positions to 15%, up from the standard 10%.

These temporary measures are available through a federal public policy introduced on April 1, 2026. They are expected to remain in place until March 31, 2027.
