Canada has held its first Express Entry draw under the renewed Transport category, giving eligible transport workers a new opportunity to apply for permanent residence.
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has issued 300 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) to candidates eligible under the renewed Transport category.
The draw took place on August 7, 2026, and required candidates to have a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 470.
Candidates also needed to have created their Express Entry profile before 2:55 p.m. Universal Coordinated Time (UTC) on October 11, 2025.
The latest selection marks the first time IRCC has used the updated Transport category for Express Entry invitations.

The August 7 draw is the first Express Entry selection under the renewed Transport category.
IRCC removed the previous Transport category from its category-based selection system in February 2025. The category was later brought back in February 2026 with a new list of eligible occupations.
The latest draw shows that workers in the transport sector are now once again being considered through category-based Express Entry selections.
With this latest round, IRCC has now conducted 46 Express Entry draws in 2026.
The Transport draw also comes shortly after large selection rounds for French-speaking candidates and people with Canadian work experience.
Express Entry Draw Trends In 2026
Canada’s Express Entry selections this year have mainly focused on candidates who already have a connection to the country.
Provincial nominees and candidates with Canadian work experience have received a large share of invitations. French-speaking candidates have also continued to receive regular invitations through category-based draws.
