Around 6,000 CEC immigration applicants were shortlisted in Canada’s Express Entry draw.

On 24th June 2021, Canada hosted a new Express Entry draw.

Around 6000 applicants in the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) received invites to request permanent residency (PR). The CRS score threshold needed only 357 for eligibility. The threshold for a CEC-only draw is the second-lowest recorded. The lowest was on 13th Feb 2021. In that draw, 27,332 CEC candidates were asked to apply for PR with a score of at least 75.

The immigration of Canada wants more in-Canada aspirants to invite. That will help meet its objective of allowing 401,000 newcomers. That is why the CRS threshold remains low in CEC-only draws.

Individuals applying under CEC should have a minimum of 12 months of job experience. The experience should be in a skilled profession in Canada. Also, an intermediate level of English or French is required for eligibility.

The immigration office established a time limit for the tie-break course. This is an administrative need. Also, it does not necessarily indicate that there would be a tie. Applicants with the threshold score were only contacted if their Express Entry form was submitted by 17th Feb 2021. The time decided to keep was 10:15:50 UTC.

Future next all-program draws.

IRCC has just held CEC and Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)-specific drawings during the outbreak. That is because the majority of the people applied under both streams would already be in the country. The immigration department conducted a PNP-only Express Entry draw. Around 1,002 applicants received the invite.

Even though the travel norms are being relaxed in the country, there is still a ban on unnecessary travelling. Flights from India are still forbidden. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau of Canada has indicated that there will be relaxation in the coming months.

The tentative date of the next all-program Express Entry drawing is still not declared. In 2021, they have yet to consider applicants for the Federal Skilled Worker Program and the Federal Skilled Trades Program.

The all-program drawings will be started soon. It’s less feasible for individuals selected for PR in the second half of this year to finish their documentation by the end of this year. The country has set a goal of settling 401,000 newcomers by the end of December. Because of this, the country may conduct all program draw in the remainder of 2021. That is because the bulk of those who get invites, irrespective of whether they are present in the country or abroad, are doubtful to conclude their landing until next year.

Furthermore, restrictions are being lifted all around the world and hence Canada. Also, the situation seems to be under control in the countries like India, which is a significant immigration source for Canada. So now, there will not be many distractions in foreign immigration, and that may be beneficial for Canadian immigration.

In 2021, over 88,000 ITAs have been sent to applicants.

Over the next three years, the immigration department plans to onboard a high amount of new foreigners. Furthermore, 108,500 individuals are expected to arrive in Canada this year.

The number of applicants has doubled this year in comparison to what it was at the same time in 2020. That tremendous number roots from the historical 13th Feb draw. The immigration dept invited all 27,332 CEC-specific applicants.

Till now, for 2021, the ITA count stands at 88,715, which was at 46,392 last year at this time.

The scoring criteria for PNP-only and CEC-only drawings are not the same. That is because individuals falling under PNP get added 600 in their scores. And CEC applicants do not participate against any other stream. So as a result of this, the immigration dept reduces more from the top. That leads to minimizing the cut-off score.

Express Entry

The three Federal High Skilled programs, including the Canadian Experience Class, Federal Skilled Worker Program, and Federal Skilled Trades Program, use a points-based application support platform called Express Entry. Express Entry is also handy for various PNPs. It helps them to encourage individuals to request provincial nominations.

You will be given points when you register on the portal. The score is given as per the Comprehensive Ranking System. Individuals are assigned points based on the demographic details that they submit.

Numerous rounds of invitation are held by the immigration dept. Individuals with the maximum scores get the Invitations to Apply (ITA).

An immigration officer reviews the application. A final decision is taken as per the demographic details. If the individual gets approval from the immigration dept, then the final move is to come to the country and active the PR.
