The information on the Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program was revealed in 2017. This Canadian immigration program helps 2000 newcomers to apply for permanent residence in Canada every year. The provinces of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia conducted the pilot of this immigration program for three years from 2017. Furthermore, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland, and Labrador also took part in the drive.
This exciting Canadian immigration program was announced on 4th July 2016 and was a part of the Atlantic Growth Strategy. But the complete information was revealed in January 2017 only. Canada Immigration started the application entry in March 2017.
The Pilot Program is centered on enhancing the settlement experience for newcomers to Canada. The program makes sure that economic immigrants/applicants submitting the application through this program have a job opportunity from a designated employer in the country. Furthermore, it also ensures that the immigrant has a settlement plan for him/her and the family as well, if applicable.
The pilot, the Atlantic Immigration program, has three categories, as mentioned below:
– The Atlantic High-Skilled Program (AHSP): The program focuses on applicants with a job offer (qualifying) for a 12-month contract as a full-time employee on level 0, A, or B positions of the National Occupational Classification (NOC);
– The Atlantic Intermediate-Skilled Program (AISP): This again remains the same as AHSP, the only differences are that it is for immigrants with a qualifying job offer of indeterminate duration and covered level C positions as well, in addition to 0, A, and B of the NOC; and
– The Atlantic International Graduate Program (AIGP): It targets international graduates of two years and also of post-secondary programs. The applicant should be undertaken at a publicly-funded organization in the Atlantic region. Such immigrants should also have a qualifying job offer.
The designated employers who are willing to take part in Atlantic Immigration will have to be screened by the applicable province(s) before appointing immigrants under this program.
