Canada attains a second rank among the happiest G7 countries per the latest World Happiness Report 2024. Canada is the sole country below the European Union regarding overall satisfaction across all assessed age groups.
Every year, Gallup, the Wellbeing Research Centre at the University of Oxford, the UN’s Sustainable Development Solution Network, and the Editorial Board of WHR collaborate with the World Happiness Report, a yearly publication.
This year’s edition of the report evaluates people’s happiness in more than 140 nations during the various stages and those in different generations. It uses the three-year WHR average of “life evaluations.”
Additionally, each nation has an overall happiness ranking for individuals across all age groups. According to the WHR, life evaluations occur based on the answers to the Gallup World Poll. The survey asked respondents to assess their overall present life using a ladder image. This image represents the best life as 10 and the worst as 0.
Along with the overall rankings, the report classifies each nation’s population into the following four groups:
- The young group – 30 years
- Lower-Middle group – Between 30 and 44 years old
- Upper-Middle group – Between 45 and 59 years old
- The Old group – Above the age of 60 years
