In a new draw, 1,002 PNP candidates received ITA through Express Entry

In the latest Express Entry draw, Canada welcomed 1,002 applicants to request permanent residence (PR).

The invite was given to only those who were nominated by a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). The rating cut-off was set at 742.

IRCC established a cut-off time for the tie-break rule based on administrative needs, regardless of whether there was a tie or not. Applicants with the threshold were only invited if their Express Entry profiles were uploaded by 18th Feb 2021 at 04:04:56 UTC.

Canada asked 940 PNP individuals to apply for PR in the last PNP-only draw, with a scoring minimum of 711 points. It was the world’s largest draw of its type.

Applicants from Canada were given top priority.

IRCC has only held PNP and Canadian Experience Class (CEC)-only draws during the pandemic. This is due to the fact that these individuals are more likely to have already stayed in the country. Qualified permanent residents were unable to travel to Canada until 21st Jun to finish their arrival and activate their citizenship.

Though Canada’s travel bans are beginning to ease, the border remains closed to unnecessary travels. Also, the flight restriction has been prolonged for the next month from India.

Amid the continuing pandemic, the federal government intends to admit an unprecedented number of new people in the next 3 years. 108,500 additional immigrants are expected to enter the country under Express Entry-managed streams in 2021.

Canada has received nearly double as many Express Entry applicants this year as it did at the same time in 2020. The enormous number stems from the record 13th Feb draw, in which IRCC invited all 27,332 CEC-eligible candidates in the pool. As per an IRCC communication, almost 87 percent of individuals invited that day requested PR before the 90-day limit.

The score criteria for PNP-only and CEC-only drawings are vastly different. This is due to the fact that PNP applicants’ scores are automatically increased by 600 points. Applicants for the CEC are not competing for other programs’ invitations. As a consequence, IRCC deducts more from the top, lowering the cut-off score.

Express Entry

The three Federal High Skilled programs, including the Canadian Experience Class, Federal Skilled Worker Program, and Federal Skilled Trades Program, use a points-based application support platform called Express Entry. Express Entry is also used by some PNPs to invite applicants to apply for provincial nominations.

You will be given points according to the Comprehensive Ranking System if you are eligible for any stream. The CRS assigns points based on a variety of characteristics and demographic details that you submit.

Frequent rounds of invitation are held by IRCC, with the highest-scoring applicants receiving Invitations to Apply (ITA) for PR.

After you submit your request, an immigration officer will check the application and come to a decision. If you’ve been approved, the final step is to complete the landing procedure and become a PR of Canada.
