Significance of French Category Express Entry draw and the need for French speakers
Over the past few years, the Canadian government has taken the initiative to welcome immigrants with French language proficiency in Canada. The government looks forward to promoting Francophone culture, targeting those settling outside Quebec in the upcoming years. Statistics Canada claims that the proportion of Canadians who are French speakers dropped to 19.2 percent in 2021 from 20 percent in 2016. The percentage of French speakers has dropped drastically in all regions of Canada, including Quebec.
The Official Languages Plan 2023-2038 allocated nearly $137.2 million over the past five years to encourage Francophone immigration in Canada. This funding is besides the existing investment of $84.3 million from previous action plans.
Express Entry
Canada’s government tackles immigration applications for Canadian permanent residence. The entire system functions through a point-based structure. The Comprehensive Ranking System assigns scores to deserving and eligible candidates based on human capital attributes. Express Entry only involves two main steps: submission of profile and the required documents. These essential documents comprise the language test results, passport, travel documents, and educational credentials.
After submitting the profile and receiving an ITA for Canadian PR, you must submit the complete application so that IRCC can review it. A complete application includes the following:
- Reference letters
- Additional Identity Documents
- Medical examination results
- Police Clearance Certificates
