According to Marc Miller, the immigration minister, these temporary initiatives will eventually assist the departure of Canadian citizens, PR holders, and their qualifying family members of the region.
One of the chief initiatives is the beginning of study and work permits exempt from fees. Israelis and Palestinians already residing in Canada who fear being unsafe coming back to the region can also get these permits. Additionally, qualifying candidates must demonstrate a valid temporary residence status to apply.
Keeping PR applications for Family-Class Sponsorship as a priority
IRCC will be giving priority to the available PR applications for Palestinians within family-based streams under family-class sponsorship. This initiative includes the following eligible applicants:
- Spouse and common-law partner;
- Children, irrespective of age;
- Grandchildren;
- Siblings;
- Parents and Grandparents; and
- Immediate family members of the Canadian citizens and Permanent Residents.
Those holding Canadian citizenship and Permanent Residency must already exist in Canada and demonstrate their relationship proof. The proof could be:
- The child or grandchild’s birth certificate copy;
- The baptismal copy of the certificate of the child or grandchild;
- An official document acknowledging the parent or grandparent as the chief applicant, including their documents concerning the family book or civil registration.
IRCC further stated that it will discuss several other details about the measure soon. In the meantime, IRCC has formed a service channel for the sole purpose of entertaining questions related to this temporary measure. This will apply to clients from Canada and abroad. They must further type in their inquiry along with the keyword, which will be answered.
Furthermore, the Interim Federal Health Program may allow permanent residents, their family members who are also permanent residents, and Canadian citizens to apply online for time-limited medical coverage to meet their emergency medical requirements upon arriving following their aided evacuation from Gaza.
