According to Marc Miller, the immigration minister, these temporary initiatives will eventually assist the departure of Canadian citizens, PR holders, and their qualifying family members of the region.

One of the chief initiatives is the beginning of study and work permits exempt from fees. Israelis and Palestinians already residing in Canada who fear being unsafe coming back to the region can also get these permits. Additionally, qualifying candidates must demonstrate a valid temporary residence status to apply.

Keeping PR applications for Family-Class Sponsorship as a priority

IRCC will be giving priority to the available PR applications for Palestinians within family-based streams under family-class sponsorship. This initiative includes the following eligible applicants:

  • Spouse and common-law partner;
  • Children, irrespective of age;
  • Grandchildren;
  • Siblings;
  • Parents and Grandparents; and
  • Immediate family members of the Canadian citizens and Permanent Residents.

Those holding Canadian citizenship and Permanent Residency must already exist in Canada and demonstrate their relationship proof. The proof could be:

  • The child or grandchild’s birth certificate copy;
  • The baptismal copy of the certificate of the child or grandchild;
  • An official document acknowledging the parent or grandparent as the chief applicant, including their documents concerning the family book or civil registration.

IRCC further stated that it will discuss several other details about the measure soon. In the meantime, IRCC has formed a service channel for the sole purpose of entertaining questions related to this temporary measure. This will apply to clients from Canada and abroad. They can contact at 613-321-4243. In addition, the clients must check online, access the crisis web form, and type the keyword “MOME2023”. They must further type in their inquiry along with the keyword, which will be answered.

Furthermore, the Interim Federal Health Program may allow permanent residents, their family members who are also permanent residents, and Canadian citizens to apply online for time-limited medical coverage to meet their emergency medical requirements upon arriving following their aided evacuation from Gaza.

Canada comprises robust communities

Because of the nation’s work, study, and immigration options, as well as its multiculturalism, Canada already has sizable populations of Israelis and Palestinians. Both ethnic groups have historically immigrated to Canada, dating back to the 1950s.

More than 45,000 people of Palestinian descent and more than 35,000 people of Israeli descent lived in Canada as of the 2021 census. Dual citizenship with Canada is also an option for Israeli people.

Regardless of nationality, religion, or ethnic origin, individuals in Canada enjoy equal rights under the law because of the country’s multiculturalism policy. The country boasts one of the most effective immigrant immigration and integration programs of any modern country, mainly owing to this approach.
