Tech Pilot Draw conducted for BC BNP to send 90 invites

The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) held a Tech Pilot draw and sent invites to Express Entry BC Pool and Skill immigration program applicants.

Applicants from the International graduate and Skilled worker subcategories needed an 80 provincial score to receive the invite.

In 2021, the tally of invited candidates stands at 3,531. They get 30 days to request the nomination after receiving the invite.

Know the Tech Pilot?

The BC PNP Tech Pilot is for international students and tech workers. It is a fast-track Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). To become eligible for the project, the applicant needs to be signed up in any of British Columbia’s immigration streams. Also, he/she should possess a job offer of at least a year in any of the 29 eligible occupations.

Applicants will have to make a profile on the online portal of the province. Then they can apply for Express Entry BC programs or Skills immigration. The registration should be done under Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS).

Applicants get a score based on their given information after the evaluation. That decides if they will be invited for the given round or not. The score depends on the demographics shared in your profile, like education, work experience, and sometimes language ability.

In 2017, a study was conducted on the Canadian labor market. They concluded that British Columbia’s main issue is access to talent, and that’s why its tech sector was struggling. So to minimize the struggle, Tech Pilot was launched the same year. The program makes it easier for workers to immigrate to the province if they possess the in-demand skill. The project also aids the province in accessing global talent.

Draws for Tech Pilot are conducted every week. The pilot gets extended every time. Recently it has been extended till June 2021.

Benefits of Express Entry pool

Express Entry is a management system for Canadian immigration’s federal programs. When you enter your demographics while creating a profile, the system gives you a score basis on the data that you have provided. The score is known as the Comprehensive Ranking System.

If you happen to get a nomination from any province such as British Columbia, then you earn additional 600 points. The points are added to the CRS score. That factor effectively guarantees your chance of getting an invite.

If you get invited to the Express Entry draw, the last step is to come to Canada and claim your residential status once your application is approved.
