International workers hired by Toronto based tech firms is on rise.

A survey by the MaRS Discovery District revealed that skilled workers like to move to Canada as they find Canada a reliable country to stay in and a safe place for Immigrants.

Many companies who participated in this survey witnessed more international immigration applicants in 2017 than in 2016.

The companies that hired new foreign workers, most of them hired through Canada’s new Global Talent. Under this program, the visa processing has taken two weeks only which is very beneficial for the Temporary Foreign Worker Program and it is beneficial for both companies who wanted to hire and for foreign workers who wanted to come here for work. Two weeks of time from job offer to arrival in Canada is like a dream come true.

By using the Global Talent Stream Canada has found the most talented skilled workers for their businesses. There a two categories

  • Category A: For those employers who are preferred by a reputable organization.
  • Category B: For those employers who wanted to hire skilled workers from the Global Talent stream.

Employers must identify whether they qualify for Category A or Category then they develop a Labour Markets Benefits Plan. According to this plan, employers came to know how to hire skilled workers which positively affect the Canadian labor market.

Main Features of The New Global Talent Stream

The processing time for Canadian work visa applications for foreign skilled workers is estimated to be two weeks.

Dedicated companies who wanted to do investments in Canada. In Category A, the benefits are to create jobs for Canadians who are either permanent residents or citizens. In Category B, they work to increase the skills of those with Canadian citizenship and permanent residency.

The LMBP also provides two benefits:

  • Improving the performance of their company.

Business Legitimacy

Employers have to prove that they are actively doing business. Employers who are new in TFWP are required to submit the proof in the form of any document. Employers who are returning will not be required to submit documents, like Canadian business licenses, or legal incorporation forms.

They encouraged the employers to hire Canadians and permanent residents first then outside workers.

Job Duties and Working Conditions

Workers under TFWP only do the job for which they were hired. Foreign workers are working in the same positions that protect Canadian citizens and permanent residents.

Provincial as well as territorial laws provide coverage of the basics such as:

  • To fix the Compensation to workers.
  • To look out the Working conditions.
  • To terminate employees.
  • To set the hours of work which includes overtime.
  • To check Workplace Safety, Foreign workers are insured by either provincial or territorial workplace safety.
  • Language Restrictions. A job seeker must know English or French. If any other language requires it will be informed on the application.
  • Unionized Positions. For Unionized positions, the foreign workers are under the same considerations as the Canadian citizens, and those with permanent residency in Canada are also protected by the union, related to their pay.
