Three Canadian provinces issued the weekly PNP nominations

Three Canadian provinces issued the weekly PNP nominations, including Ontario, British Columbia, and Manitoba. All Canadian provinces operate these programs, excluding Nunavut and Quebec. These programs have become a significant pathway for immigrants under the economic class to reside and work in a province that issues them a nomination.

Essentially, all Canadian provinces have a separate scoring system to evaluate candidates under each PNP. These scores are distinct and, hence, result in different outcomes.

Three Canadian provinces issued the weekly PNP nominations – Results between January 19 and 26

British Columbia

British Columbia issued ITAs to a minimum of 216 candidates under three different streams of the British Columbia PNP on January 23, 2024.

Candidates received invitations in general draws under the following options:

  • Skilled Worker Stream;
  • Skilled Worker Express Entry EEBC option;
  • International Graduate;
  • International Graduate EEBC option

All these streams issued invitations to candidates with a minimum score of 120.

Yet another general draw occurred under the Entry-Level and Semi-Skilled Stream. This draw sent invitations to candidates with the lowest score of 98, for a total of 79 ITAs.

Here’s a summary of the draws:

  • Childcare – 66 ITAs;
  • Construction – 34 ITAs;
  • Healthcare – 36 ITAs;
  • Veterinary Care – <5 ITAs

The minimum score cut-off for these candidates was 60. The construction category had a higher score of 75.

Manitoba

Manitoba sent NOIs under the Manitoba PNP across three distinct streams on January 25. The Skilled Worker in Manitoba Stream sent 156 Notifications of Interest to those with a minimum score of 772. Also, candidates who completed their post-secondary education in Manitoba or had a spouse fulfilling the same condition got a chance for these draws. MPNP 78 candidates under the International Education Stream. No minimum cut-off score is relevant to this draw. In addition, the MPNP issued 41 NOIs to candidates with the lowest score of 713.

Out of all the 275 Notifications of Interest under the weekly MPNP, 29 candidates with Express Entry profiles received them.

Ontario issued weekly PNP nominations – Discussing the outcomes

Ontario PNP issued invitations to candidates in two distinct draws last week. On January 19, the province issued 1,654 ITAs to candidates under its Employer Job Offer Foreign Worker Stream. Candidates who received the invitations had to demonstrate a minimum score of 50. Also, the OINP issued 12 targeted ITAs under the same stream on January 24. These were candidates who were eligible for the Economic Mobility Pathways Project. This project focuses on skilled refugees and assists them with Canadian immigration through the available economic pathways. It also enables employers to create a new pool of eligible candidates to occupy vacant job positions.

Ontario issued ITAs to candidates as of January 24, welcoming candidates over two distinct draws under the two streams: Masters Graduate and PhD Graduate. Candidates under the Master’s Graduate Stream were acknowledged only if they scored 50 or above. On the other hand, PhD Graduate candidates needed a minimum score of 45. Ontario didn’t display the number of candidates who received invitations to these draws.

Furthermore, OINP declared that it fulfilled its nomination allocation (of 2023) on January 19. In 2023, the program sent 16,500 ITAs to candidates of different streams.

The ever-growing significance of the Provincial Nominee Program

At present, the PNP allocation appears to be low according to the latest immigration levels plan. However, it will gain momentum next year, that is, in 2025. It is set to emerge as the leading pathway with more than 110,000 PNPs. It already constitutes over a 5th of all yearly immigrant distributions throughout Canada.

These initiatives aim to be evenly distributed throughout Canada, focusing on regions where an influx of newcomers can improve smaller provincial labor markets and demography.
