Newfoundland And Labrador Issues New ITAs For Immigration

Newfoundland and Labrador issues new ITAs for immigration. The most recent invitations were issued through the Expression of Interest (EOI) system.

The province transitioned to this EOI-based intake system for both the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP) and the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP) on February 19, 2025.

Draw Results

Program Number of invitations issued
NLPNP 281
AIP 47
Total 328

This marks Newfoundland and Labrador’s second round of invitations using the EOI system, following the issuance of 256 ITAs in the initial draw on April 3.

As with many other provinces, Newfoundland and Labrador saw its provincial nomination allocation significantly reduced in 2025. However, the province was able to negotiate successfully with the federal government to secure an additional 1,000 spaces for economic immigration.

With this increase, the total nomination allocation for the province in 2025 now stands at 2,525.

Overview Of Newfoundland And Labrador’s EOI System

Newfoundland and Labrador issues new ITAs for immigration pathways using its new EOI system, which adds a preliminary step before submitting a full application.

Individuals interested in immigrating must first create an account and submit an Expression of Interest via the province’s online immigration platform, known as the Accelerator.

Once submitted, EOIs remain active in the system for 12 months.

Applicants who receive an ITA can proceed to submit an application under the NLPNP. Both applicants and employers have a 60-day window to complete and submit the application after the ITA is received.

It is essential to understand that an ITA does not guarantee approval for immigration. Applicants must still demonstrate that they meet program requirements and are admissible to Canada.

Prior to adopting the EOI system, applicants were able to apply directly to permanent residence programs in the province.

Note: Foreign nationals living outside Canada who are applying under either the AIP or NLPNP must obtain an invite code from their potential employer, which must be included when submitting their EOI.

Applicants who already have valid temporary status in Canada are not required to include an invite code when applying under the NLPNP.
